RUMOUR Bellamy - 10 Year Deal

Can’t help but also feel the same. We won’t get Belly, or a big name recruit, we may be lucky enough to score a decent CEO but I’m skeptical:

there’s no big turn around over the horizon. Kev will probably get us back to also-rans. 10th place next year, 8th the one after, snare an extension and finish 12th then who knows what happens after. He’ll make a few head scratching squad decisions and the retention team will make a few more flop moves here and there.
I tend to agree. I think people expected Kev to come in a slash everything to pieces and we'd make all these massive signings on the back of it and everything will be hunky-dory. I'd be surprised if Bellamy comes to the Broncs. As the statements above suggest, he could easily be a coaching director at Melbourne from a distance. I can also see just a couple of middle of the road, nothing signings for a while.

Our club has virtually been destroyed so there is no easy way back and I have absolutely no faith in our board/upper management. Anyone coming in needs to look longer term and rebuild the fucking place. It's still hard to fathom how we have gotten ourselves into such a bad state.

In saying that, I think Kevvie will bring some fucking pride back to the jersey and I hope he ***** off anyone that doesn't buy into what he's pushing.

couldn't disagree with that more

Emotions are high at the minute if your a part of either Storm or Panthers. Not the time for making decisions or having assumptions.
That said, as a club, we have suffered much disappointment these past few years and as such nothing would surprise.
Just looking forward to getting a few breaks come our way after the season wraps up tomorrow.

Which part? “virtually”?
nope the Destroyed part.

take the Roosters for example in 2016 they finished 15th then turned it around the following season to finish in 2nd. while i don't believe we have the team to make that sort of remarkable reversal ... we do have the team to be playing finals in 2021.

you take away our injury toll (where for large chunks of the season we had well over half our salary cap sitting on the sidelines)
COVID
mid-season rule changes
Seibolds overly complex game plans (that our youthful team had difficulty understanding and implementing) and coaching methods

The first step is to get the team playing for each other, rather than themselves ... and IMO, that will be one of Kevvies strengths.

I tend to agree. 'Nothing is fucked here, dude'.

Seibold sucked obviously, but we have had one of the worst runs of bad luck in the sports history. We have a decent team here, we need a few good signings but Kev will get them playing as a team and things will improve.

As for the board and whatnot, that probably is fucked, dude.

I'm ever the optimist, but I agree 100%.

Seriously, how are white, Morris,Nolan and Lockyer still at the club. They are the ones that need to go before anything can change.

White is gone in January
and BHQ don't have the money or power to get rid of either Morris or Lockyer, only News Corp do (besides, one bad decision doesn't mean they should face the sack ... if it did, the unemployment queue would be pretty damn long)

the optimist in me likes to think that lockyer was pushing for walters the first time around when seibold got the job.

the Seibold decision wasn't necessarily at bad one at the time (remember hindsight is 20/20) ... what was bad was the 5 year contract, should have been 3 years max.

" One bad decision"......... you're being generous there.

not really the 5 year contract was their bad decision

the decision to hire Seibold didn't work out well, but hindsight is 20/20

I also maintain that the decision to move on from Bennett was the right one ... the decision to sack him, IMO, the board are only partly to blame for how that went down. I truly believe that Bennett was actually aiming to get sack, so the club (board) would look like the bad guys. if i did what he reportedly did, then I would get sacked from my job too, and not one person would back me under those circumstances

Remember when Lockyer was on the selection panel that picked Boyd over Slater for Game I of the 2017 origin series..

Locky needs to step away for good.

Apart from the 5 year Seibold deal, you're happy with the board's performance over the last few years and where we sit now?

Badel/Meyn reckon that Bellamy will reject our offer and stay with the Storm (while livings in QLD)

quotes from Paul Bunn:

“I have known Craig for decades, I roomed with him during our years at the Broncos when he was an assistant to Wayne (Bennett),” said Storm recruitment chief Paul Bunn.

“I honestly believe he will stay at the Storm. I would be shocked if Craig went to the Broncos.

“I just know how much time and effort he has put into making the Storm the great club they are today and I can’t see him wanting Melbourne to be dismantled in any way if he coached elsewhere.

“Melbourne will not let him go without a fight. The Broncos might be able to offer Craig money, but I feel he is motivated by other things.

“The Storm have serious pulling power. The Broncos have failed to get him before so I’m confident the Storm will keep Craig again.”

quotes from Frank Ponissi:

“I do (think he will stay with Melbourne), but at the same time I’ve shown him a level of respect and he doesn’t need me to chat about it,” he said.

“He’s made it clear he will make a decision at the end of the year. In the off-season we will have a chat about it.

“He has made it quite clear he will return to Queensland in a living capacity, but that doesn’t mean he’s not going to work for the Melbourne Storm. In the role he would play he could be just as effective living away from Melbourne.

“Craig’s ability to assist the head coach and staff will be crucial. You will not get a better mentor than Craig Bellamy. It’s enormous for us to keep him.

“From a recruitment point of view, when you’ve got Craig involved in your club it’s going to be a lure. From a coaching and recruitment point of view I think it’s vital that we retain him.”

more from Bunn:

“People have no idea how dedicated he is,” he said.

“John Ribot and Chris Johns were at the Storm and they kept hearing stories about Craig and how driven and dedicated he was in his pursuit of success. They headhunted Craig because of all the positive feedback they were getting.

“He never stopped working. It was insane. He would be writing notes on planes. He watched videos. He would spend hours and hours cutting up his vision in an era before we had the technology we have today and it was such a time-consuming process.

“He prided himself on getting the boys ready every week with notes and game plans and advice and the boys loved him for it.

“People see vision of him blowing up in the box, but people don’t see the way he handles players away from the cameras.

“Ninety nine per cent of the time, Craig is actually a very calm bloke. He doesn’t spray them as much as people think.”
From Bunn

It is huge (that we keep him), especially in being a mentor of the next coach. The next coach of the Melbourne Storm

How good would it be for Kev to have a really successful 2021 and then tell the Broncos board to shove it up their arse and take up the position with Melbourne n 2022. From Kevs point of view I mean.

Not the slightest bit surprised that Bellamy will reportably say no to us, as he has done plenty of times.
Also Smith coming out through the week stating he would sign with the Titans over the Broncos in an “alternate universe” is also no surprise.
These two clearly aren’t fans of the Brisbane Broncos.
Watch Donaghy now say thanks, but no thanks.
ffs.
