It's paywalled but the gist of the article at the time was Walters was overruled on picking Slater which was a massive stuff up, he came back from injury and was in great form and for some reason they chose Boyd who offered nothing offensively.

Just because I wanted Bennett to see out his contract and transition to the next coach better doesn’t mean I couldn’t see Seibolds flaws clearly, as I explained those flaws before he signed and it turned out exactly how I said it would. I copped it because I knew someone who was close to him who told me about his style and knew it wouldn’t work with idiots at our club. Hindsight wasn’t 20/20, foresight was.

He wasn’t even a first option. He was a panicked choice by the board after they allowed Bellamy to **** them over again. He had a good season with a good team that someone else put together and got lucky with the Burgess brothers being allowed to bend the rules and Cook taking advantage of that. That Rabbits team made him look far better than he was. That team got by on skill alone, and when the coaching of that team is taken into account their set plays, his interchange use and their game plans were severely lacking.

A good coach shouldn’t be judged on what they can get a good team to do anyway. His coaching ability showed when he had a shit team and they did not improve. He had no answers.

You’re right, Seibold was a good coach and he had those no names playing better than they ever were at the Rabbits. He made GI, Johnston, Chrichton, Cook, Walker, Gagai, Reynolds and the Burgess brothers far better players, it definitely wasn’t the other way around..

Saying it’s “bullshit” isn’t arguing the points and I don’t think you can, which is why you’ve chosen this avenue as your response.
