RUMOUR Bellamy - 10 Year Deal

There's no way this deal happens now with how much it's been in the media. Obvious tactic by ballamys management to bump up his price, or maybe the storms management to turn him off a return (yes, Tripp. That's right) to the Broncos
And my heart is happy with that too. Either way Melbourne gets screwed, and as always, **** the Melbourne Storm.

Our system? What system?! The Craig Bellamy system clearly trumps anything & everything the Broncos have run with over the past decade or more.. not sure what his brief stint as origin coach has any relevance.. if anything, it shows that Craig Bellamy’s time proven methods require precisely that - time. Players need time to marinate in his structures and systems and intensity to reap the benefits. If & when he takes on a role at Brisbane, I think the seismic shifts will take at least a year or two to become evident.
So a long term deal is the only way to go with him imo.

What kind of role do people on here think he's going to have? Because the reality is going to be a bit different..

His time as an Origin coach is very relevant when it comes to identifying the right players. We aren't going to have the structures and systems he put in place at the Storm.

Sounds like our media moles within the board are going to **** this for us.

The deal already looks like Bellemy has all the power in the negociations and we are kissing his feet, I really do think he is a good signing but when things start to look rediculious it generally says to me that it's not going to happen.

This leaking of info makes the entire board look like amateur hour.
We may as well have journos recording the minutes .
We will never be successful again no matter who we get as long as our front office operates like this.

first a 5 year deal
now a 10 year deal
Badel will have us offering him a 15 year deal next week
Even so, I prefer there be talk about deals than no deals at all.

My view is Bellamy will have carte blanche to do as he will. When it comes to the football side of things I believe the board will simply step back entirely. No interference, from spotting talent to pathways and beyond, one ring to unite us all.

If KW fails as an actual coach Bellamy will choose his successor. He will be what WB would have loved to be given a chance to be. The ultimate shotcaller. I'd be surprised if CS9 didn't play a role at some point in the future. I don't think the media will have any influence on our future direction.

Give him a two year deal, make him prove his worth.

He's great as a head coach for the Melbourne Storm, but he's going to have a very different role and quite frankly, his time as NSW coach doesn't inspire confidence that he would be able to recognize and recruit players that fit into our system, if he even has a hand in any of that. He's been great at recruiting players that fit into the Storm system because he created it. He's not going to have that same luxury here.
I’m thinking the main reason for our approach to Craig is to improve or create our system that is currently either very poor or even non-existant In places. He has a proven record of being able to turn other clubs castoffs into quite acceptable footballers accepting he has some failures.
I’ve read about some of his methods and starts at the interview therefore the ‘get go'. So no reason why he wouldn’t do that here. Tolman comes to mind.

CS9 quoted as saying if he played on he wouldn’t under any othe coach than CB. Also that he didn’t believe CB would take up the Broncs offer -siting its time to put his feet up given the amount of effort he puts in everyday. Hope he’s wrong.

Everyone seems to have forgotten that Wayne Bennett is also being offered this position, and that ruling out his estranged son-in-law Ben Ikin as CEO confirmed that.

These board leaks are really a concern! I doubt the 10 year thing is accurate, but damn they know how to sabitage their chances of things happening!

hard to believe the type of offer we have apparently sent to him wont be matched by the Storm?

Everything we would like him to be responsible for would also be pretty much what the storm themselves would want...

Like most things, it will come down to $$$

In terms of his stint as SOO NSW coach; in my eyes I think it proves the guys a long term thinker. Even he came out and admitted where he went wrong as NSW coach, so he's clearly learned his lesson and understands who he is, someone who builds for the long term. Not a coincidence he hasn't really stepped up to the rep table since.....its just not his cup of tea...

The idea in European football behind a technical director (or sporting director) is that the pathways to the first team are established, a clear philosophy and culture and identity in terms of what type of football is played, the character and technical level of the players developed or recruited, and most crucially, with the turnover of head coaches being what it is, the ability to correctly identify the type of coach best suited to your system and remove the risk that any one coach brings into the team a whole heap of players NOT suited to the club.

Hope I explained that; its actually quite hard to properly articulate what they do...

But thats kinda what is behind the appointment, so if this is the vision Brisbane have for Bellamys role with us, I think it will work very well long term...though to be honest WB could also do it...:kimlo:

One thing Brisbane have that Melbourne don’t is they aren’t in Melbourne. By all reports Belly wants to finish up in QLD and a 10 year storm deal will see him in Melbourne until he’s 70.

That being said, I won’t believe it until its official. Storm have fucked us over too many times before - Craig, Cameron, and Greg..

Yes but if there is too much talk about deals Bellamy might get pissed off and it won’t happen.

Media seem to be more interested in what’s happening here than the impending final series. And yes I take your point you are right. As such the media would more than likely want to put the Storm off their game then put shit on us. But if it happens as a consequence they’ve killed two birds with the one stone. Kent is beside himself.
