Yes but if there is too much talk about deals Bellamy might get pissed off and it won’t happen.
I can't see Bellamy doing anything other than exactly what Bellamy wants, and that is to secure his future, in terms of a job and that the job is in and around football. I don't think the media has any influence on what he wants and what he will choose for his future, whether it is here or Melbourne. Given the noise is that he wants to come to Qld, then if that's true he will make it happen no matter what the media say or do. He is where he is, he has achieved what he has because he did it his way, and that way has worked. That's Bellamy.
If it is a 10 year deal (which I find surprising given 10 years is a rather long time) it is because the club wants a long term future plan, one incidentally, if true, would most likely exclude Bennett given his age. For mine, I can't envisage an 80 year old Director of football. If it's a shorter term then maybe. If we are talking 10 years then we are talking long term player development, pathways etc etc including recruitment and retention at which Bellamy is rather good. Again I can't see Bennett in that sort of planning.
In any case, my view is that Bellamy (and the Storm management in general) don't tolerate a culture of failure and their record, the hard lessons of cap rorting aside, shows that. Perhaps this club is seeking redemption given the shit that has happened over the last 3 -4 years and a long term plan with senior management committed to that culture of long term success, fresh ideas (relative to what was here) and proven strategies is the way to go.
Having said all that, I expect Bennett here next year and for the next 10 years.
