RUMOUR Bellamy - 10 Year Deal

you do understand what middle ground means, right?

giving Bennett exactly what he wants isn't middle ground
Knowing what we do now, would you have chosen to give Bennett the extra year or take the road we did and end up where we are?

Bennett clearly wanted to coach further on, as we know by him being a head coach next year, but he was willing to move into that role if given an extra year (2020) at the Broncos.

Middle ground.

I wouldn't have given him the extra year, change was needed.

I certainly wouldn't have given Seibold a 5 year deal though.

I also don't believe Bennett would make a good director of coaching ... his ego is a bit like Gould's, he wouldn't be able to stop himself from interfering, and he would want a coach to be his puppet.

Yes and No.

On the one hand, no, it is pretty unlikely that Grant will reach the level of Smith given he's perhaps the greatest ever, so he's probably correct in that sense.

On the other hand though, he's probably the most exciting Dummy Half talent (perhaps even the most exciting overall young talent) in the game right now, so even if he doesn't reach Smith's level, he's still likely to be an absolute gun for the next decade or more and you could easily build a Premiership challenging side around him.
I was mostly responding to the part where he said Grant wasn’t an organiser and had a narrow skill set. Absolute rubbish.

The ones with the ego problem are White and Morris and it turned us into a joke.

If you don't think Bennett has a massive ego, you clearly haven't been watching Bennett for the last 30 years

He’s earned it, that’s the fucking difference

doesn't mean he'll make a good coaching director.

besides it's been 11 years since he has won anything. i don't see that changing this year.

He has a better chance than we do.

Bennett to Qld, Burgess being a **** will help throw the media off Craig to the Broncs - for a little while at least.

Except the media is fox sports... they'll be looking for anything to bury the Burgess story.

Didn't see the pre game tonight but did they bring Sam up at all??

The more I think about it, the more I like this idea.

Why should we let Bellamy play us like a fiddle again? If he hasn't agreed in principle to sign with us already, and were I the club, I'd have made a statement saying we are not looking at Bellamy as an option and no offer will be made.

Let him play his dirty negotiation games elsewhere.

Being back Bennett as director.
I wouldn't trust that he's coming until he's in Brisbane wearing a Broncos polo in a live press conference on Fox League

Change was needed, maybe those youngsters he was bringing in being given a year or two to learn the game better was the change that was needed? We have to stop falling back on this "change was needed" bullshit. It's been argued and you didn't bother replying to it. Also are you implying that you still would have gone with Seibold on a shorter deal? Even with hindsight showing you what he could do with only two years? Jeez...

Can someone tell the Broncos higher ups that time is not a form of currency for negotiating deals. Adding years onto a contract does not make it more enticing. Someone like Bellamy isn't going to be wooed by extra years he is locked into a contract. Why they manage contracts this way is beyond me. most end up biting the club in the arse. Find another way to sweeten the deal rather than the failed 'add more years' approach.
