No, it's not. ARey is close to done. It will be a miracle if he plays 80% of the season.
That and we need to have a plan for good halves in 2026. Where's that coming from if we ditch Ezra?
Ezra will just walk into another club and play against us, that's the real problem. Cutting him loose is just another club's gain.

Injuries
And how Ezra is going in cup.
I don't think Madge will allow Ezra to just walk back into the team and I can't see him dropping blokes if their form is good.

Mozer could be the starting 9 when Ezra returns and we don't know who the 14 would be or Billy/Paix/Smoothy could be the 9 with Mozer as the 14 when Ezra returns.

I do think with Hunt signing at least one of our hookers and possibly Madden might look for a release

30 try assists last season and dragons fans are coping that they’re better off with an Illias/ Flanno jr halves pairing.

Illias is turning into the Broncos halves replacing specialist.

I do rate Flannagan as a coach but there's numerous reasons his time with Ben was tainted IMO.

Illias has copped a bit of rough deal I think...he's a better player than he's shown IMO. That's a bloody young halves pairing though.

Don't be surprised if we offload a hooker/half in the next month and pick up another player or two. My money is on Madden, no chance he sees the Maroon and Gold this season barring horror injuries - even during origin.

My gut feeling on this is overall positive, hard to go wrong having a player like Hunt in the squad.

Just takes so much pressure off the team should/when Reynolds misses games as well as the post Reynolds transition next season.

Yes, we have a tonne of hooker/halves in the squad but as someone who is very concerned Ezra will not come back anywhere near the player we hoped he would be (he never really recovered from the Roosters game drama imo) this provides much needed insurance and surely the plan is to cut some of the halves/hookers before next season to start investing more in the backrow and backline.in 2026.

Basically, i'm more confident in our performance in 2025 now than before we signed Hunt.

Madden you would think would be the most likely to look elsewhere and probably the guy who would find a new home the easiest.

With Paix, Smoothy and Billy one needs to go.

Loosing 2 of our halves/hookers would probably free up 400-600k and 2 spots.

Madge seems like a pretty smart operator so I'm sure things are moving in the background to get better balance in the squad.

Ezra was pretty bad before the drama during the roosters game. The first pass he threw in 2024 kind of became his and our story for the year. Lackluster. Hunt is some added security, plus his body is in better nick then Reyno, i wouldbt be surprised if he extends for an additional year eventually
