DCE and Foran both are such quality players and they are only aged 24 and 23 respectively. I really rate the pairing of Aiden Sezer and Albert Kelly, if the Gold Coast fail to make the finals next year Cartwright should get sacked imo.

Manly have got this covered, for now. DCE just seems like a well balanced footballer who can move with a lot of grace while Foran is your old school through the guts five eigth. Both of them bounce off each other really well and while from a Broncos perspective I'd love to see DCE at Red Hill, it'd be nice to see them stay side by side.

The premiership halves pairing is worth a shout. Admittedly, not a fan of them, I feel like they're limited and having glaring weaknesses but they worked well off each other and enjoyed good seasons.

The 2012 premiers shouldn't be forgotten about either. While the pairing is history, Widdop/Cronk formed a well balanced combination with Cronk being Mr. Consistent and organising the team across the paddock with Widdop utilising his running game to catch defenders off guard on that left hand fringe. Didn't have the best season all told but on their day they were as good as any pairing in the competition.

Sutton/Reynolds were right up there for form, Mullen/Roberts had their share of moments and have potential to be in the frame and I really like the look of Sezer/Kelly. Can never count out a halves pairing that consists of JT or Carney either.

For mine, Cronk is a solid, quality half back who is consistent above all else, does everything expected of him within a rigid structured game plan, directs his team well and is made to look better than he is by the "spine" players around him.

As those players and we know who they are, get older and slower, he has started to look somewhat pedestrian. He is not innovative nor is he a game breaker, nor is he explosive off the mark or indeed, very fast at all.

Carney and Mullen for mine are more enterprising, faster and have the ability to pull off something special, something unexpected and in doing so, and in general, rely far less on others to make things happen.

After NSW flog Qld in game 1 of origin in 2014, I expect DCE to replace Cronk (along with a few others) and restore the brilliance and bring home the 9th Series in a row.

IMO, Carney and Mullen ought to be the NSW halves pairing not the 2 nuffies who play for Sonny Bill Williams

Johnson and Foran will be awesome to watch in the WC. While Foran is mostly known for his fearless running and taking on the line, his left side for Manly often looked more structured than DCE's right. Could be because everyone on that right side is a ball player though (and Glenn Stewart is hopeless at everything else).

The ones with the best forward pack making space for them.

That would be Manly , Roosters , Rabbitohs.

Thereafter individuals stand out but will never deliver a premiership behind crap Forward packs and average halves partners.

Some Half / Fullback or Half / full back / hooker combos go better than ideal halves pairings ( Melbourne , Thurston and Bowen back in the day ).

This year the prospect of Johnson and Tomkins raises the possibility of some freak pairing we have not seen the likes of before.
