BHQ Countdown: Most Loved/Least Liked Players Reveal thread

He was hardly garbage in 2017-2018. From 2019 on though it was like when Boyd fell off a cliff but in super slow motion.

Yeah probably right but I have totally forgotten a lot Milf did that was good because he just became so garbage by the end.

Only just found this thread somehow.. Have I missed Ashton Sims? Surely he is high on the hate list.

Wally didn't make my list because he didn't play for us long and then left for another team to finish his career.

From a broncos player perspective there isn't much to go by, I wasn't exactly alive when he played here as well so that would also contribute.

For Brodie Croft haha

A bit surprised Wally is so low on the loved list to be honest but then, probably shouldn't be, his career is looooooooooooooong over and likely, many if not most posters never saw him play.
He also went the way of Tallis there in the 90s early 2000s where he hated the Broncos and death rode them constantly. It has only been the last 10 or so years after he made up with Wayne that he has liked them again.

I have a lot of respect for Wally and did see him play - though my memories of him are more playing for Queensland than the Broncos. It was the '92 team that really solidified my fandom, and the guys from then on will always trump those who came before in my favourites list.

The very first game of rugby league i went to was one of Wally last origin games at Lang Park.

He really didn't acheive too much in a Broncos jersey ... but IMO his signing was extremely valuable as it likely convinced many other QLD player to join the club in our Inaugural season.

he's also never really become a dick to us, in order to make a name for himself in the media like many other former Broncos

Wally was in his 10th year of first grade by 1988 and was 28 so he was towards the end but this suggestion he was finished is a myth.

He captains Queensland in seven games while at the Broncos and they win six.
Captains Australia eight times for eight wins and plays 9 Tests.

Dally M Rep player of the year 1988 and 6 of the year in 1988.

88 he was particularly good all year. 90 was a write off because of injury. He was still the best 6 in the game in 88 and 89.

Tomorrow, a good goal kicker and another guy playing decently elsewhere.

I don’t think you can compare Origin Wally to Broncos Wally though. He was a different breast come Origin time.

His club form was excellent in 88 and 89.

88 he played 19/22 games- 15 tries and they won 13 of the games he played in- they only had 14 wins for the season.

Fergurson was the top try scorer with 20 tries, and an aging 6 has 15. Two tries in a game six times. He was dominating.

89- 18/22 games- 13 wins and his second Panasonic Cup- three tries against Eels in Townsville.
