PLAYER Billy Walters

What role should Billy Walters play?

Again, Tauamolo was floating at marker and therefore was not onside. Should have been our penalty. The strip was questionable. 3 out of 10 is a very poor, dishonest rating. No player in our team gets a 3/10 that night. What would you have given Paix?
You are making excuses and I’m being dishonest. How was the strip questionable? A defender was around the legs and Billy obviously rips at the ball?

JT “floating” is questionable but regardless JT was there and Billy should’ve pulled out of the play. Forcing a pass and hoping that the ref calls the marker offside is a unnecessary risk.

I would have given him a 5, which is what he honestly deserved has he not thrown an intercept and then immediately gifted 2 points dropped his score.

The fact you are trying to justify his errors tells me you have an agenda.

A fan supports the team, the coach, all of that.

You don't get to harass the shit out of member's of the team on a fan forum and call yourself a fan. It's not highlighting/critiquing. This thread has probably been the most active thread on this forum since it's inception and that's not because of Billy's ability as a footballer, it's because the coach is his dad. If he plays like shit, that just gives them a bit more ammo to work with.

I would like to also point out, whatever is said on here doesn't change a thing. I guarantee you our views mean next to nothing in the eyes of Kevvie or anyone else in charge of picking the team/assembling the roster.
"Let's talk about Billy Walters" is the title of this thread and people are doing exactly that. Critiquing Walter's football skills is not harrassment. Just because you disagree with peoples opinions about Billy doesn't make them any less of a fan. I can guarantee you when fans vote with their wallet and their feet they will listen.

Do not fear the Broncos fan that are blinded by small victories for they will rest on the team's laurels and invite complacency but fear the fan that does not accept mediocrity for they will strive to push the team to become better than they were yesterday. ~ Sun Tzu, The Art of Rugby League Fans.

What exactly would my agenda be? Because I’ve been very honest about wanting someone better. I’ve just asked who, and despite you guys throwing names at the wall, none of them stuck.

I am just asking you guys to be honest too. But your agenda is that the coach is making sure he has a spot. You guys whinging after he’s had a good game because of two errors that were absolutely questionable and a mostly fine game is hilarious. I even got the rule book out for one of them and was met with crickets from you and your mates.

Billy going well Taking the early defensive pressure which allows paix to come on and do his atta king thing. Working well.

Yea I like the set up we have. I am just hoping Kevvie doesn't pull anymore random changes (like having Flegler start).

Barring any injuries (or injured players returning), we should just stick with this team (especially while we're winning).

random changes work sometimes and we won 40-18 so i really dont understand this whole flegler shouldnt start thing.

I’m not asking for him to be dropped or replaced. You are fabricating that. In fact, I’ve said several times before the season that the Walters starting / Paix of the bench combo is the best we have for now as long as Kev gets the interchange right which he has been.

I thought BW was strong again tonight .......

Deserves the no.9 jersey again next week.
Yeah he was solid tonight. Just went about his work and didn’t try to overplay his hand. Paix imo, obviously outplayed him but Paix can’t do that for 80 minutes and Billy taking the early defensive load obviously helps Paix.

It’s very early days but if for some reason you had to pick one of the two, you would pick Paix.

Walters is shit and adds absolutely nothing, he's only in the side because of his dad. Smoothy should be starting with Paix on the bench and any other coach in the NRL would be running that.
Lolz.

Yes. That was the final score, but we were down 16-8 at half time. I would suggest that indicates there was an issue with how we started.

This was also against the dragons. A better team would have punished us more in the first half and not let us back in the match.

I wouldn't say Walters is "shit." If his job description is to pass the ball and not goof off, he does that just fine. His runs from dummy half are nearly always pointless. Paix is much the same but at a higher intensity. The attack definitely lifts when he comes on. He's not slippery or in the organizing hooker class, he doesn't boss the opposition, but he's adequate. He'd be the one I'd keep.

It's working for now because Reynolds, Mam and Walsh ooze attacking class in spades, but throw an elite hooker in there and we're premiership favourites.

Ideally you play Paix for 65 and then bring on someone with even more intensity to exploit the tired opposition. Right now we're playing Walters for 25 minutes in a defensive role, Paix for 15 minutes either side of the break to catch up the deficit, and then bringing Billy back on in the final 15. If Billy is the defensive hooker, it's odd we always seem to be behind when Paix comes on.

The problem is neither of them have the ticker to put in what's needed from the role.

I don't have a solution other than to stick to the knitting, since we're getting by at present. But it's clear to me we leak points in Billy's first stint and Paix seems to have more attacking nous. I'm sure Paix would carve it up if he were brought in for the final 15, but we might be too far behind on the scoreboard if Billy plays the two middle 15's.

Thanks for stopping by, Tyson.

How the fck does Selwyn missing the winger in the corner have anything to do with Billy ?
Or Ezra going low in the tackle and Sua offloading , got to do with who is playing hooker at the time ?

Butterfly effect ?
