Boyd can fire for Broncos at wing or centre: Hodges

It’s all about context.

Who deserves more latitude when it comes to delivering consistent performances and general expectations; a bloke who has played less than 50 games, or a bloke who has played more than 300 and is the captain?

Isaako was poor, but Boyd was so much worse.

To say otherwise is plain ridiculous.
There are some extenuating personal circumstances to consider with Isaako's form last year too. The same can't really be said of Boyd.

Why do I always have to be this guy? Are you just going to forget the tackles he made in the front line? Like they didn't happen at all? He is actually a fairly decent defender in the front line and anyone saying otherwise is flat out wrong. Again, not supporting Boyd, just don't think the statements being made are correct.

Boyd's defence in the front line was good, yes. However, it's his lateral movement which worries me. I just don't think he is quick or agile enough to turn and tackle a fast moving opponent out wide.

As for firing in attack, pop guns don't fire. For mine, wing is the only place for him. Based on form this year, he is a liability anywhere else.

Wing... Yet the guy can't jump for a bomb ever.

Would be an absolute bloodbath him at wing

This is why it makes no sense at all to force him into a position... You have exciting young guys - with pace - and something to prove, playing for their future

Vs a guy who is at the end of his career, playing just to cash his 7-800k contract, who will likely take his player option next year if he's allowed to play more than x amount of games...

There's literally no upside to squeezing him in... Only way he plays is if there's an injury crisis. That's it

Or if no-one puts up their hand for the fullback spot - be it Issako or Arthars etc.. and it goes to Bird. Then we may see him play centre.

But that would be extremely disappointing

Thanks for not responding like an over the top dick head.

His lateral movement is poor, but his defense in the front line hasn't been proven to be a problem yet. He could be given a shot at center and if it doesn't work out then he can go. I don't care either way.

As far as Isaako not being by far the worst player on the field, bullshit. He added nothing, he put us under more pressure and let in far more tries than Boyd did. You'll all remember the 4 missed tackles Boyd made from fullback on players the entire front line missed as well, but everyone seems to forget Isaako coming off his wing numerous times, dropping the ball in our own 20 and dropping bombs most wingers could catch behind their backs. Boyd's stood out because they were dumb, Isaako's happened far more often.

All the Boyd haters out there. Will you say you were wrong? Or will your shadows wander of somewhere. If when Boyd kills it next year.

I "put" Boyd on the wing as sadly, I don't see the club have the nuts to drop him and wing limits the amount of damage he can do the team. It sucks but what's the alternative?

I am not a Boyd ‘hater’, but based on his form for the last 24 months am definitely of the opinion that he is well past it and needs to go, pronto.

That said, if he comes out next year and performs well, which I seriously doubt, I will be ecstatic to be wrong.

Boyd isn't a lost cause. His handling is fantastic, his pass game is solid, his line defense is okaaaay. He just has no x-factor in offense, and his lateral movement and intensity is no where near NRL standard. Considering his pay packet, he is just weighing the Broncos down.

At least if we stick him on the wing, he doesn't have to think about going Left or Right.

Oh please stop using all the buzz words you can fit into a sentence. Not directed to any one person, just a general plea.

He did in his rookie season, not so much last year. But yeah, Isaako wasn’t the worst ‘by far’. At worst, it is debatable who was worse out of Boyd, Isaako, Shibasaki and latter season Oates.

In fact, no one could have been worse than Gehemat Manihera Shibasucky (it’s caught on)
Shibasaki was bad. But I think he will come good in the next year or two. I have the feeling the Cowboys may poach him. I am hoping that with Tigers withdrawing the offer to Mitchell and Addo Carr potentially shifting from the storm either club may see value in Kahu or if I want to dream Boyd.

I will say I was wrong. Happily. I said I was wrong about Lodge and I will do it about Boyd if it happens.

One thing about Boyd is he has some dud years and bounced back but players like this (Blair and Luke) is you never know when their best is going to be.

In saying all this, I hope he is left out of the 17 or even better moved on.

I would put Boyd on the wing if we can have also have Greg Inglis in his prime playing at centre. Otherwise, no thanks.

This is basically my thought process. I'm also happy for him to be criticized for the things he's done, but half of the statements made about him are hyperbole or just flat out incorrect

Disagree completely. Isaako is the first picked out of those 2 in wing, fullback position without even acknowledging goal kicking needs.

Isaako had dick fingers, and missed some sitters but he provided so much more offensive spark then Boyd. Isaako had more magic moments than Boyd easily.

So far, anything good Isaako has done is for me, overshadowed by his awful defence out wide - missed tackles and leaving his wing. It seems for each try he scores he lets one in. He really needs to fix his defensive reads to become a good winger and to maximise the undoubted talent he does have

Being the laughing stock of the NRL via mainstream media through out the season was clearly hyperbole for all to see.
His former team mates are trying to paint a rosy outlook despite the obvious decline in playing ability, surely he could at least do the right thing for the future of the club like previous selfless captains.
Alfie had a health scare last year, that on field coaching spot soon to be vacated may just be the gig for Boyd come 2020.

You know some people say that nothing is impossible. You sir, may just have described something which is infact impossible.

Anyone who cannot recognise that Boyd's performances and leadership are negatively impacting our football side is in denial.
