Boyd - I'm trying too hard

I think people are deluded tbh if they think he doesnt try. He makes mistakes, he makes errors in judgement, he isnt the player he was at one point. There is a difference between that and not putting the effort in.

Could you or any one of the Boyd detractors make a small video compilation of these pure laziness moments, the not trying moments, the cowardice and pea hearted moments and the apparently numerous arm waving moments? You guys may be right but I watched the same games and haven't really noticed them so I'd really appreciate it so as to better understand the opposite view.

Or you could save us the trouble and just watch the games with your glasses on, they're quite easy to spot.

down the bottom right hand side of the video player, after that you want to select "Speed" and go 0.25, can you see Boyd standing in front of the goal line offering absolutely zero support? Doesn't seem like he's "trying too hard" to me in this situation.

If you're still struggling to see him let me know and I'll post a few screen captures for you with large rid circles pointing him out.

I wanted to like this post more than by just a click so I'll quote it and say, yes I totally agree. There are just so many perfect posters on here, free from defect and never in error. If their lives were held to the standards they expect of Boyd and other players then half of them would curl up in a ball, sobbing.

Okay, will do. I have glasses. In fact I use BOTH eyes when I view events.

Well he can put in all the effort he wants (when he wants to) but if he's past it, he's past it.

He takes the high ball pretty well, and can sometimes pull off the sweep play. In what other ways is he a quality fullback? In what ways does his attitude improve the team? Is his captaincy of high quality in your opinion?

Now I understand. I followed your advice, went to 1:03 and saw Isaako field a kick. Boyd was 30 metres away getting in position in case Isaako passed the ball. Isaako plainly had the situation in hand but foolishly went towards the sideline. There were three Bronco's there, more than enough.

EDIT: Keep insults out of the discussion.

Please: Someone else watch this bit of footage and give me your opinion. I myself cannot believe anyone could find fault with Boyd for what happened around 1:03.

Uh...it's a second after that. Boyd out of position, watching a try be scored.

(who is trying to save the try, by the way...?)

@Huge I'm sorry man but you're way out of step with this. Stevie Wonder could see Boyd's insipid efforts in defence.

That happened several seconds before 1:03. Go take your tablets and try again.

I see why you wanted to slow it down to a quarter speed. At that speed it makes look he has plenty of time HOWEVER at real speed he was no chance at all, no human could have reacted in time, not even Neo! The action was past him and he couldn't have done a damn thing about it even if his life depended on it. You clearly have some sort of agenda. Just watch it at normal speed and forget your bullshit slomo which everyone understands is limited in it's benefit.

I only watched it at normal speed...you're getting confused here. I didn't say anything about slo mo. You are dodging real hard here mate, kinda like Neo, actually.

Several times you have made comments about Boyd having to move at the speed of light to be in position to stop tries...which is his job as a fullback. WHY is he out of position so often? Again I ask, and please answer, who tried to stop the try right there?

Huge mate, I reckon you could've got closer to Crichton than Boyd did, and you're in your late 70's. It was a shithouse effort, in fact it feels wrong to even use the word effort in relation to that play.

I can see alternate views on the other things he's done, like slipping over and falling for dummies, but there's zero excuse for the lack of urgency he showed in that Roosters game.

No, Stevie Wonder couldn't, he's totally blind. No one's said Boyd hasn't made some poor decisions but I reject utterly the notion that he isn't trying or is a coward.

Watched the highlights and it shows how good Staggs and Fifita will be [emoji869]

Oates would have scored that first try easy if the pass was better. Boyd’s meant to be a master of the final pass. Could have changed the context of that game...

You quoted my reply to unbreakable and you call me confused!!!!!!!!!! And I am. I quoted incorrectly. Unbreakable wanted me to use slomo because he thought that would help or emphasize this perceived Boyd failure, it didn't because I didn't bother.

Probably, if we're really picking knits. But I'm not too worried about Boyd in attack. He's still doing his job relatively well in attack. It's purely the defensive lapses and misreads that are murdering us.
