Unlike nine out of ten Broncos fans, Andrew Johns isn't yet demanding Anthony Seibold be sacked immediately, but if he is, he says the man to replace him should be former rival Kevin Walters:

“He has to get the Broncos job if Anthony Seibold is gone. They need a real connection between the footy club and the city of Brisbane. You see a lot of the old boys, there’s a big dislocation to the current club and the current players, so I think Kevvy Walters could bring it all back. Get the right assistant coaches around him, get the front office right, bring Kevvy back. "

"Hashtag Bring Back Kevvy.”

NSW coach Brad Fittler agrees, but says he'll have to give up coaching the Maroons:

“You couldn’t do that (coach both sides). You could, but most probably one would be neglected. There’s plenty of blokes who’d put their hand up for the Origin job as well, so we’ll see what happens.”

Walters to the Broncos and Green to the Maroons seems to be the logical way things should probably unfold when the dust settles.

I think this makes the most sense actually.

Kevvie seems a good man manager and this club needs that as head coach, the key is to bring in the right assistants. Kearney needs to be one as he has experience and I would be going after Payten if he is unsuccessful getting the Cows role.

I'd be very surprised if his assistant coach ranks aren't very Broncos old boy heavy, or at least QLDers.

Makes sense but I still think green wants an NRL head coaching job and would want a get out clause in any origin contract.

Sure if he could get a good club role, but the Maroons job is I presume still viewed with quite a bit of prestige, so I imagine that would be tempting relative to some club roles.

He likely hasn't mentioned any interest in the Maroons role because it isn't a currently vacant role, and the only way it would be made vacant is if Walters gets a better offer, which would likely be the Broncos role, which in turn is probably the role Green REALLY wants.

Agree 100%.

Kearney with Broncos history is a possibility, but outside of that I think it'll definitely be some of his former team mates.

100% agree. Looking at Siebs coaching staff i think this should be a massive learning curve.a few experienced guys like Kearny are a must and I think one of Hodges or Parker should be considered for a assistant role while the other plies their trade in reserves along with Prince. I watched a recent video of Scotty Prince playing ressies and he talked about wanting to get into halves specialist coaching.

Lets get Green, Walters, Hodgo, Parker and Ikin in a room to do a deal.
Doubtful. Green and Walters are both fairly proven Head Coaches and mostly rivals for the same roles.

Hodgo will almost certainly be a Head Coach at some point and I'd guess Parker has similar aspirations too. Hodgo in particular I think would make an excellent Origin Coach at some point provided he was given Assistants to complement his skill set.

First thing Ikin needs to do is **** off contract options, altogether. Blanket policy: no options for anyone. I'm not convinced Walters will be our long term coach, but they have to give him two years. No more, no less. If he does well and fits in, he'll want to stay. No need for performance based options. Pay him what he's worth.

The assistant coach he'll want will be Cameron Smith. Failing that, anyone who's trained under Bellamy and played Origin would be a good stopgap. He'd have to be wary of Smith, though. He won't be satisfied staying assistant coach for long, if that's where he's heading after retirement.

Yep do it already. I don’t care about tactics anymore, if Kevvie can get them to run onto the ball, tackle and improve the mood around the club that’d be a big win.

And I want to see him go 24 rounds referring to the other team as The Opposition

Froget Coaching, does he want to play outside Dearden this week by any chance? He'd likely still be sharper and fitter than Milford.

I only see Smith coming here if he came as a player first. Fingers crossed I guess.

If the club is serious about bringing back the 'Broncos culture' then Walters is the obvious choice.

As people here have mentioned, a good assistant coach is a must .... and as important, a new strength and conditioning coach !!!!

From what I'm reading and hearing, he's keen to remain in QLD, even moreso now his family is settled in Brisbane. Mal looms as a major threat, with their rep history together. But we're more likely to be able to squeeze him under the cap if he wants to play on.

There's a certain irony in our collective entitlement in expecting to be able to poach the eyes out of other clubs, after the way we performed over Fifita. I'd like to see Smith retire as a one club man. It's a good look for the code. He's practically built that club. I hope this is his last season.
