Broncoman's State of Origin thread of hope and despair

When Australia was first discovered, they set up convict colonies right where they landed - what's now called Sydney.
Then when the gentlemen and gentleladies migrated to Australia afterwards, they spread as far away as possible from all the convicts. Yes, QLD was one of the areas they moved too.

So NSW are mostly just descendants of convicts and it's why they are so thuggish in SoO.

That's my history lesson.

I'm certain most QLD fans know deep down if Paul Gallen was a Queenslander he would be one of the first players picked.

Both cities are ****holes.......and both cities residents like to think of themselves as kings of ****.

Whoever decided to install Canberra as the nations capital was a genius, as it knocked the **** out of both of them.

I like to think it was a QLD'r .......:winky:

It was the NSW government that decided it after a debate whether Melbourne or Sydney would be the capital. Canberra was designed by a yank btw.

Paul Gallen picked in a QLD team, pfffftttt.

Edit: FFS, stop trying to bed the rules on this.

The time has come to right the wrong, correct the injustice. For too long have we ignored the elephant in the room. From this day forward in this place and all related forums the State of Origin series will be contested between.
Queensland and Nsw/Act.

Agreed .......the ACT has contributed enormously to the 8 year losing reign that NSW have had to endure.

I've heard some older QLD fans give criticism of Andrew Johns being selected at hooker in Origin in the 90's with Geoff Toovey being selected at halfback, but after watching some of the ultimate collection it turned out to be a very good selection.

Big example was Game 1 1997 when Johns was named at hooker with Toovey in the halves and when Johns went off with a twisted ankle in the 30th minute Toovey swapped positions and went to hooker and John Simon took Toovey's spot in the halves. Toovey went on to play a major role in NSW's 8-6 win as he got the Blues out of trouble plenty of times in the second half, with his darting runs from dummy half.

Very sketchy NSW team in that game, Toovey swapping positions with Johns, John Simon coming of the bench and playing in the halves, McGregor going of early in the game (he returned later in the first half and scored the Blues try) and Ken McGuiness playing in the centers and doing a good job on Matt Sing.

This was the NSW lineup for that game btw

1: Tim Brasher
2: Rod Wishart
3: Terry Hill
4: Paul McGregor
5: Jamie Ainscough
6: Jim Dymock
7: Geoff Toovey (Captain)
8: Paul Harragon
9: Andrew Johns
10: Mark Carroll
11: Steve Menzies
12: Adam Muir
13: Nik Kosef

14: David Fairleigh
15: Dean Pay
16: John Simon
17: Ken McGuiness

I give criticism of Andrew Johns whenever I possibly can. Druggo ****. I fucking despise that he's been put on a pedestal with the greats of the game, it irks me no end.

Sorry B'man, but **** Andrew Johns to hell and back.

Something pretty interesting about the 1997 series was that it was when the Carroll-Harragon rivalry was at it's fiercest yet in Origin they teamed up and were the Blues best performing forwards in the series.

Can't wait to read the courier mail tommorow morning LOL they will be furious but with good reason though as that is one fucked way to lose, but watching the QLD league community throw tanties is always amusing.
