Broncoman's State of Origin thread of hope and despair

Can't wait to read the courier mail tommorow morning LOL they will be furious but with good reason though as that is one fucked way to lose, but watching the QLD league community throw tanties is always amusing.
That's pretty funny... coming from a NSW'ker. No one knows tanties like you guys!

I didn't blame the referees at all after Origin this year QLD questions the referees and goes off about them as well. Both sides are just as bad as each other IMO.

LMAO at the stories of the Cowboys players and fans being abused in Sydney, have you ever worn a blue jersey to Lang Park before hypocrites.

Just watched the 2nd Origin game from 1991 and man Mark Geyer really took it to the Maroons that night he absolutely unleashed everything on them brutally but legally unlike Wally's opinion.

What a brilliant game though pouring rain and fearsome defense and both teams really put on a great show despite the atrocious conditions. The halftime fight complete with Geyer/Wally nose to nose, the great try by Chris Johns, Meninga's great conversion in the blinding rain, Dale Shearer sliding over with 10 to go, Stuart throwing a brilliant pass to McGaw who goes over in the corner, O'Connor's amazing kick and the Blues holding out a QLD raid in the last minute (Carne almost scored of a kick by Langer but Hasler got to the ball first).

Sensational stuff

Nothing legal about his elbow on Hauff.

Last week I bought a NSW jersey from this year but It had Brad Fittler's name and the number 6 on the back. Mad jersey it's become one of my favourites very quickly.

its almost like the name and number are some sort of adhesive material that can be added to jerseys. crazy.

the difference is you deserve it if you wear a blue jersey to lang park.

I also don't recall a captain from NSW being booed during the national anthem and playing for your country while being in Queensland unlike in NSW like Lewis copped.

I personally thought the Queensland reaction to the Gallen V Myles encounter in the first game was just a dummy spit at losing. If a Queensland player did that or if the Maroons won the media here and the fans reaction would've been totally different and there would't have been much issue.

Queensland reactions

Arthur Beetson V Mick Cronin: Yeah baby what a great moment in Origin that was it set the tone for the contest that's what Origin is all about mate against mate that's what everyone loves to see.

Paul Gallen V Nate Myles: OMG that's a terrible thing to see on a footy field that is soooooooooooooooo not on what a sad moment it's the black Saturday of sport

I don't think the reaction was based on QLD losing .... i think it was more to do with the fact that Gallen is a grubby piece of shit that can't cop it but loves to dish out the cheap shots !!!

It's nice to see you reminiscing about your 8th series loss in a row .....

That is a ridiculous theory. Modern rugby league is very different to how it was back then. All 34 players went out looking for a punch up. Gallen punched Myles whilst he wasn't ready. If a modern day Queensland player dog punched someone, like Jennings did and like Gallen did we wouldn't like it. And no, Tate didn't punch whoever it was in that game a few years ago, he pushed down on their head with his fist. Just like Gallen, Bird and probably 10 other NSW players do in every tackle with their elbows and forearms.

LOL at Mike Coleman's blog on the Suncorp Stadium facebook page saying that if DCE was a NSW he would've been put on the scrapheap like Wallace and Mullen. Seriously?? if DCE was a NSW he would be one of the first players picked and is superior in every way to Wallace and Mullen

Even better when he says NSW are streets behind QLD. If the Blues are actually that bad how come QLD got pushed all the way to a decider and only sneaked home by a mere 2 points!!

Classy journalism mate

The fight between Beetson and Cronin was more symbolic of what the match meant to Queensland that many people dismissed as a joke brought to the game rather then what the fight actually was, by the days standards it was absolutely tame, both Beetson and Cronin agreed.

Well I wonder, at Queensland's worst how many series has Queensland lost in the past 8 season's? Now lets go to the absolute best performing season's for NSW during that period and how many have they got to show for it? NSW made a big deal out of how with 2 home games they were certainties to win it, won one game and lost the other at home, got owned in game 2, the big difference between the two is what being off your game means to your overall competitiveness and that's where Queensland is street's ahead, NSW have shown that if they are even slightly off their game Queensland is good enough well and truly to be able to put them away, to be competitive NSW needs to be at its best.

You may say oh well the spine is getting on but the funny thing about that is who is next in line for those options, Barba, Inglis, DCE etc.

I'm really interested to see how Segeyaro backs up a strong season, and hopefully evolves into a reliable starting 9. He is brilliant to watch.

Milford's another QLDer to watch, he's been electric at the WC. Vidot's been surprisingly reliable considering all the criticism of 'hands like feet'.

Canberra definitely know how to sniff out good QLD talent, I'll give em that. A long history of it, really.

One of the few clubs to rely on imports from interstate to get the results. The Raiders golden age coincided with the arrivals of Queensland and Brisbane club players. There was a very good mix of Canberra juniors in the team as well.
