Broncoman's State of Origin thread of hope and despair

Look at his jersey colour, champ, and there's your answer.

Same as big tough Gal punching Nate Myles out of the blue - how many times over how many games in the one series again?

I had no problem with Gallen not being sent off. Myles was asking for it..

Hmm, I almost get the feeling Fulton's head was nearly on the chopping block anyway, maybe he'll take the opportunity to jump before he's pushed?

This is really dangerous. Everything points to a Qld win, by the length of the straight. But NSW will be hungry and this stuff can often galvanise a team. I can see someone like Farah, who's never played better, to really rally any new players and have them believing they can cause an upset.

Another one bites the dust. Boyd Cordner suffers suspected syndesmosis (?) in the Cows game.

Commentators are idiots. Not that I believe Maloney is their best option at 6. But they're saying that because he's playing poorly (trying hard, but not effectively) without Pearce beside him, that if Mitchell isn't picked then James shouldn't be either. But is NSW going to pick an out-of-position back-rower beside him?

Even more stupid is they're saying that they should go with Hodkinson & J Reynolds because they're at the top of the table. No thought that they're there because their pack is ripping shreds off the opposition. Is NSW's pack going to dominate the QLD pack like that? Stupid reasoning and typical of the Blues mindset of choosing performing players without taking in to consideration their club teammates who are making them look that good.

Did anybody read that shit on the backpage today? Calling Reynolds and Hodkinson duds is just laughable and possibly the stupidest thing in Rugby League I've heard for a long time.

Yeah the duds that are on top of the table, in great form, both very solid and committed players and have won their last 7 games on the trot.

Do you believe they could have done that if they didn't have arguably the best forward pack in the game at their disposal?

That forward pack has won a lot of games for Bulldogs over the years. Could argue it makes Reynolds/Hodkinson look better than what they actually are.

You know who are duds and won the GF last year? Maloney and Pearce.

Calling Reynolds and Hodkinson duds is way off the mark. They aren't the flashest pair running around, but they are both relatively consistent, and complement each other well (more so than Pearce and as m as lon

True, the Bulldogs go forward helps them greatly, but they're both good players. Most importantly, they complement each other well (more so than Pearce and Maloney who are very similar players IMO).

I'd argue they will be found wanting on Wednesday night, but they are likely the best pairing NSW have available at present.

I have full faith in the players selected and they will bust their balls next Wednesday.

I've been wondering. When Julian O'neill was constantly making a fool of himself did the QLD media sweep him under the carpet and gave his antics minimum coverage. I can imagine a NSW player doing the things and the media here destroying him but keeping it quite if it was a Maroon.

I doubt that any player from either state would be shown any mercy these days.

The media are a pack of wild hounds !

Agreed. Generally speaking, it takes a while for halves at that level to click - at least a series or so and it's more often than not a losing series but they show enough promise to get the nod the following year (a la Lockyer and Thurston).

Hayne and the Morris brothers are the danger men for mine. The Morris boys were outstanding in the Test Match. They really sparked the Aussies after a fairly lackluster start. We easily have the Blues covered in the forwards. Can't wait!
