Broncos - 2015 Discussion

I've been hearing Napa is going to get the nod over McGuire..

QLD would be stupid not to play McGuire...if I had it my way, he would be starting over Myles.

I think McGuire got his nose in front of Napa against the Roosters. Could both get there yet unless they stay with Bull

I think they both belong in a QLD side to be honest. Napa would be like a better version of Te'o, smashing in defence off the bench. I think McGuire would really lift too.

I think Napa is better suited for that impact role. He hits hard and he is hard to bring down.

I think McGuire is a starter and that's how you will get the best from him, he is better when he is playing long minutes. He was good off the bench when he started out, but he went to another level when he was starting.

8. Scott
10. Myles
15. McGuire
16. Napa

That's a very good front row rotation.

If no Boyd .. Maranta to wing and Kahu to fullback.

There's a thread for the Panthers game Austin :-)

I think McGuire is made for origin. He has all the attributes of a good origin player. Tough, rugged, great motor, plays his heart out, pretty quick, relatively safe, and I can easily see him lift a few levels playing in that arena along the likes of Scott, Myles, Thaiday, let alone the likes of Smith, Slater, Thurston etc.

Plus McGuire has had to wait years for it, he'll be primed for a massive game.

All good points.

One thing about McGuire is that he loves the contest. Seems the fiercer the contest, the harder he fights. The intensity of origin wouldn't faze him one bit IMO. Wouldn't surprise me one iota if he was our best forward on the night.

I'm not so sure that he is what he's built up to be in the origin arena. I'm not saying he'd be a failure, but I'm concerned about brain farts in that pressure cooker arena. His aggression only adds to that possibility. He has a strong hit up and good defensive game, but rarely punches through the line or offers any ball playing. Like a poor man's Matt Scott.

To be fair, last two years Matt Scott has been a poor man's Matt Scott which is still better than most other props in the game. Two poor man's Matt Scotts is not the worst thing!

He surely offers more than Myles does or ever did, and he has been a mainstay for years.

@TonyWebeck: Am I the only one who didn't know Lachlan Maranta is Brett Plowman's son? Talk about a @brisbanebroncos-rich gene pool!
I like Tony Webeck as a reporter but this worries me when reading his information

who is Tony Webeck anyway?

He's name is being mentioned in quiet a number of threads i see, and i too was wondering who Webeck is. He seems to have some inside intel in some of the threads lately and i wonder who hes connections at the club are. Im wondering if his possibly related to Shane (same surname etc)?
