Broncos 2016 Squad

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

The Mole has reported Thaiday has been given two months to prove he deserves a new contract.

He's been doing alright coming off the bench which is where he should stay, and take a pay cut as a result.

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

I don't disagree if only because it'd make him a more attractive investment but worth noting that he's still playing as many minutes as he did before.

He is a bit late reporting what he read in the courier mail (and claiming its his own scoop)

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

According to the Courier Mail we're going to offer him 100k less than what he's on now.

Does anyone have reported figures for what he's on now?

from memory it is about 450k but don't quote me

So that would mean a new contract would be 300-350k.

On one hand, I don't want him at all, but on the other hand 350k for him with long serving discounts, and the salary cap around 7 million, that's about 1/20th of the cap. In a 25 man cap you'd have to say that's decent value for the player Thaiday is.

Still... I'd rather he went to the highest bidder.

Anyone else think Rod Griffin could become a more valuable commodity under the reduced interchanges next year. He may be a good bench forward.

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

Have reduced interchanges been confirmed?

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

At which point it'll be beneficial to have fresh front rowers on the field, it works both ways, I can see some teams stacking up with 4 big men and some teams going with a utility or even two.
It'll be more about long minutes than size which is a good thing for the game. Your Sam Kasiano's stock will devalue , and you Paul Gallen's will rise further. I just going to wash my mouth out now.

I am wondering if teams start with impact props that play for 20 - 25 mins and then a player like McGuire comes on and plays the rest out. Like Graham had done up until last season.

Under the system before of reserves teams didn't carry four props. They had tackling second rowers and utilities.

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

Won't the whole game change?

Impact will be speed and execution instead of huge collisions between overweight Mack trucks.

The ball will become a lot more important than bodies which means the will have to be lots of bodies in constant motion.

Fitness will become paramount.

The Walker brothers will come into their own. They should be on the coaching staff from next year.

Thoughts on this roster? If we can get Nate Myles with Thaiday's money.

1. Boyd
2. Kahu
3. Copley
4. Hodges (c)
5. Gagai
6. Milford
7. Hunt
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Myles
11. Blair
12. Gillett
13. Parker

14. K.Nikorima (Ofahengaue if we don't use a Utility)
15. Oates
16. Gavet
17. Wallace

That's a potential premiership winning 17 if you ask me.

Rugby League is slowly becoming contact touch football (or TRL).

Which is probably not a bad thing. But not its roots.

A sideways trade.

Gavet has also played his last game in a Broncos jersey.
