Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

Rugby League is slowly becoming contact touch football (or TRL).

Which is probably not a bad thing. But not its roots.
That is a bad thing. Touch football at its highest level is the most boring touch football you can watch and I have seen a fair bit. My cousin plays for Australia

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

based on what?

The fact that he's out for the next 12 months, will be recovering from an ACL and was a marginal first grader to start with, the blooming of Wallace and the rise of Ofehengaue

He'll find it hard to play those two out of a jersey in 2016.

You can get back from an ACL in 9 months, if he recovers well he could get in most of the pre-season and trial games, and when fully healthy he's probably still in our best 17 players. We can still use his aggression off the bench, we certainly shouldn't be judging him off 1 game.

And all the best to him that he can fight back and bring something else to the table for the squad.

What about Wallace? I would personally Ofahengaue over him, but do you think Ofahengaue will be better than Wallace in 2016?

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

Well Bennett wasn't convinced Joe was ready for 2015 but Joe has been fortunate to pick up the odd game here and there to build up some first grade experience and never really looked out of his depth during that time, I think he could handle more regular stints in first grade next year off the bench and based on that I think it's between him and Wallace for that final spot and I'd prefer Joe personally, I see him a better prospect long term.

Wouldn't playing big minutes in the ISC rather than short stints off the bench in the NRL be a better development environment for Joe?

I'm happy for that to happen eventually, just need Dale to show me he can string more than 2 games in a row without getting injured!

Definitely prefer Joe O over Wallace or Dodds. He hits with way more impact and aggression than the other two and that's what we need most. Keep Wallace around for another year, just as reserve coverage for injury while Joe gets game time along with Gavet. I'm down for that.

I think Joe has been steady...with the field time he's had. Certainly hasn't made a huge impact.

Dodds on the other hand is pulling off 3-4 big hits a game. Opposition players are looking or him in our defensive line. Doesn't offer much with the ball in his hand though....

Re: Broncos - 2016 Speculation/Discussion

Wallace is only 24 and has shown a big improvement from 2014 to 2015. I think he could improve again over the coming seasons and prove to be a handy player. Certainly the type of player you need in your top 17 these days to make the cap work ( unless you are Sydney City)
