Broncos 2020 Squad

I think Staggs would be wasted at FB. He strikes me as a guy that enjoys the contact side of things - keep him at centre where he can get fully involved and use his strengths.

Shibasaki off to the Knights. I think a lot of people will be happy. I agree with the new coach. He is made for the backrow . I would have kept him but I am in the minority on here I know

I’d upgrade the kids next year, especially Haas and Fifita and then chase Ponga.

Run with this side 21/22:

1. Ponga
2. Coates
3. Staggs
4. Farnworth
5. Oates
6. Dearden
7. Croft
8. Haas
9. Turpin
10. Flegler
11. Fifita
12. TPJ
13. Carrigan (c)

14. Walsh
15. Joffa
16. Lodge
17. Bullemor

Great side but why bench Lodge?

Not really sure, just feel Flegler might absolutely explode next year and I think he has a higher ceiling.

Wow, big call man but I guess we'll see. It would be great if you're right because then we really do have an embarrassment of riches up front.

Yep I could be completely wrong haha. For some reason, I just have a gut feeling that Flegler could become the new Steve Price.

I agree. I have a good feeling about Flegler. I think it will take him more than 1 year, but I think he is going to be a really good prop in time.

Fullback for 2021 should be Niu or Walsh, I wouldn't go to market for a FB before giving our juniors a crack first, saves us money and lets the club build a stronger overall roster with serious depth.

YES, now that Croft is confirmed and Shibasaki has hit the bricks, I can finally do my 20th team list. Love shooting the shit with these.

1. Isaako
2. Oates
3. Staggs
4. Bird
5. Arthars
6. Milford
7. Croft
8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Fifita
12. Glenn (c)
13. TPJ

14. Paix
15. Flegler
16. Joe O
17. Carrigan (c)

This is sort of half what I imagine Seibold would go with and half what I would go with. As far as I'm concerned, 1 thru 13 pick themselves. I'm not entirely sold on Bird @ Fullback just yet and I have serious doubts Seibold wants a bar of Boyd at all, and if he isn't being conned into picking Kahu, It'll be Arthars who takes that spot. I really don't think he was signed just for depth, Seibold got him up here for a reason. I reckon he probably rates him highly, and he has some speed to burn out wide.

The bench really only has 2 spots in question, Paix and Joe O. I think you could probably interchange some names in and out of those spots depending on how pre-season and trials go.

I wouldn't be against seeing how this goes in the trials and from round 1.

1 - Niu
2 - Oates
3 - Bird
4 - Staggs
5 - Isaako
6 - Milford
7 - Croft

Or

1 - Milford
2 - Oates
3 - Bird
4 - Staggs
5 - Isaako
6 - Croft
7 - Dearden

I'm really hoping Milf gets more a professional approach, gets himself fitter and gets back to the Milf we signed a few years ago

Given the flak he's copped recently I think he will (as our 5/8 which is where he belongs), and, especially now that he will have a quality halves partner in Croft, I see him recapturing the form of "the Milf we signed a few years ago".

With Milf at his best, playing his natural game, and, separate to any game management, with Croft's terrific footwork and speed, I see them as the best halves pairing in the league.

Then, when you think of the damage that can be done to the opposition's defence when our halves unleash Fifita, TPJ, Staggs and Haas, 2020 can get pretty mouthwatering

I've been told that Jonathan Reuben is at Broncos on a train and trial deal. He's really good. I like him.

I know it is hard to compare players and have informed judgements on highlight reels, but the way he finds himself in the right spot to support at line breaks and to pick up loose balls reminds me a little of addo-carr.

May not have the same speed but just that instinctual way he follows the ball and positions himself. He could be a great finisher if he develops his game.

So do we have a top 30 roster yet? I've lost track of where we're at.
