If Canberra and South's don't play the storm when they were in their "slump" we make the 8.
If we beat the tigers we're in the 8.
The difference between 9th and 4th is 2 wins.

We played 5 top 8 teams twice
Raiders played 4, Souths played 4 and the sharks only played like 2 top 8 teams twice..
If we had the more favourable draw we make the 8 easy.

That’s all good but even if we get a favorable draw, Kev would still screw up with his shit Team lists and use of bench. He needs to mend these greatly for the betterment of “the team”.

I admire that the bloke is full of passion and a through & through Broncos supporter but, that doesn’t automatically make him a capable coach. I honestly hope his assistants are swapped for a modern day assistants instead of his “mates” .

Boy o boy, we’re missing the 8 & it’s a terrible feeling. Really gutted about the last 4 weeks and not acceptable. I hope DD & Ikin are very serious about all these and act upon very swiftly in the next 2-3 weeks.

If we don't concede 110+ points in two weeks we give ourselves a chance.

If we had won the games against the Warriors, Roosters (Round 5), and Tigers, all of them games we should have won, we would be in the top 4 right now.

And yet there's some people on here who think top 4 wasn't realistic.. Yeah right.

Lets not forget Kevvie is still a very inexperienced NRL coach. Hopefully he has learnt a few things this season that he can apply next year. I'm hoping he is more ruthless in his selections and is more quick to drop under performing players.

Also shows how close the top 8 (apart from Penrith and Cronulla) is aswell, in the past 4 week's we played 3 out of 4 teams going for the same spot as us.
If we put 50 on Parra their in similar position to us.

The last 2 weeks and missing the finals because of that will hurt the playing group so much more than getting knocked out week 1.
If they can't use that as motivation to come back better next year they shouldn't be playing professional sport.

You're missing the point of why a longer "10" is crippling us. We are barely getting back to where the ref is holding the line before the opposition is already over the advantage line and coming to us. That's why we seem so passive.

The Storm and to a lesser extent the Cowboys have realised that when you have the ball, you can do anything with the markers. You'll see at least two plays PER SET where the Storm player playing the ball will either move off the mark, or will deliberately hold or fall in to the markers, giving Grant or Smith a saloon passage back behind the ruck. A couple of years ago someone was saying that the Broncos were moving off the mark when they were playing the ball, which is why there was a crackdown for, say, half a week (aka the game that we played), but since the Storm and Cowboys are getting great success out of it, there is crickets. Watch a Storm game and watch their play-the-balls, and when the Cows play, watch Feldt. Every ruck he is trying to milk a penalty and when that doesn't happen, he just grabs the jersey of one of the markers and pushes them to one side. The marker can't do anything because if they try to push back they get penalised. Like most of the rules that get bent, it's amazingly simple and effective, but you're only able to get away with it if the refs let you.
An easy fix for that would be to win the contact first and dominate the ruck after that, they can’t be pulling that if we get a dominant call from the ref and get afforded the extra time in the ruck

I get your point and agree to an extent. But the refs are deadset looking for any excuse to penalise us. The tackled player just has to hold one of our jerseys so a tackler can't get up and we get pinged for laying on too long.

We didn't get penalised much this season. I think it's so rare for us to get a dominant tackle or sprint up off the line that the ref goes "what the hell was that?" and blows a penalty. Do it for 80 minutes a game all season long like the good teams and it'd be fine. We are a long way off doing that though.

Penalised and six agains. If only there was a difference.

I think this is a bit disingenious.

The raiders have lost to non 8 teams:-
- manly
- NZ
- brisbane ;)
- st george
In the 8 we have beaten
- sharks x 2
- souths
- Melbourne
- chooks

Whilst having a soft draw helps, all sides have things go for them and against them in a season. It is not like this year has been a glowing success for the raiders. There is games the raiders should have won (and should have lost) that could see them in or about the top 4 or alternatively well out of the 8. Same with the Broncos.

Where is this lack of self belief coming from that Patty mentions?

They were flying high, they had just smashed Parra at their home ground which isn't an easy thing to do, sitting in the top 4 on our way to a top 4 finish.. Then we get beaten by the Tigers and it all goes to shit. Are we that mentally fragile?

Patty also mentioned the training hasn't been as high quality as it has been, so why weren't Kevvie and the leadership group ripping into the side about that?

The late season fatigue argument is still the most sensible. Kev just didn't know when to take the foot off the gas. It should have happened around the 6th game of the streak, coming out of Origin. Instead he just assumed we would ride the crest of the wave all the way to September as if we're Penrith. The injuries to key players, Reyno in particular and losing Carrigan to suspension certainly hasn't helped matters either.

The Carrigan thing still pisses me off. Here is a guy who is a complete clean skin, never gotten anything higher than a fine then suddenly gets 4 weeks for a hip drop because the media are rioting at the gates, meanwhile NAS has been charged 5 times this year and served zero time for incidents that are arguably worse.

Remember when they apparently went to Kevvie in preseason to whinge about training too hard? I wonder how popular Ballard is with the players? Maybe he has overcooked them?
