Every worst possible result happened. I hope our players learn from this but also, are the Broncos now an unlucky club?

Did 2015 break the Broncos? Ever since that fateful night, anything that could go wrong seems to have, even breaking rules and records to get there:

2015 - The night that changed everything
Or was it the 2011 broken jaw or the Sims Effect?

Anyway, since then, despite having all the talent and resources in the game:
- One of the worst CEOs of all time
- A highly touted coach turns out to be the worst coach of all time
- We become the first team with 13 wins to miss the 8
- Record floggings left, right and centre
- Weird judiciary results / precedents that affect only us
- Postponed suspensions that only happen to us
- Best player deciding in a season where things are actually going well, he’ll decide to destroy that
- Injuries left, right and centre
- Jake Turpin
- Ryan James
- NSW scapegoating resulting in Staggs being crushed and turning into a flop
- Jack Bird
- Andrew McCullough
- Anthony Milford looking like an all time great and ending up a meme
- Matt Lodge and his inexplicable superstar salary
- TPJ needing a haircut and nothing stopping his steps
- Payne Haas linking with a known group of idiots
- Inexplicable botching of Walker
- Fifita getting the stupidest offer of all time they happens to no other club
- 2022 ending the effectiveness of Cobbo, Capewell and Staggs
- The Slater drop kick try that was not a try before or since
- The Flegler head high for a Rooster ducking into it at waist height
- Getting the Tigers after the Cowhoys debacle
- Every player ever returning the round we play anyone

There are many, many, many more
We’ve been cursed since Allumbra.

Since JYY breaking his ankle against the vermin imo

Kevvie should lose his job after the past month or two. He absolutely fucked our team and messed with winning combos. Absolute moron of a bloke.

Critique his coaching all you want but to call him a “moron of a bloke”?

Thought you were handing in your membership and going out a winner, what happened there?

I fear that missing the top 8 in this fashion will mentally break the playing group. The past month and a bit aside, it was shaping up as an incredible season. There was a new found effort, commitment and resilience within the playing group that was rarely seen in the past few seasons. It finally looked like we could actually challenge some of the top teams in the finals if we kept improving. To inexplicably fall away so dramatically, particularly so late in the season is the most baffling thing. To go from a top 4 position to out of the top 8 entirely will be hard to take for the players. It may have undone all the good from this season. Really disappointing.

Tigers would have a better chance at beating the Raiders if Hastings was playing. Ironically it was Carrigan that took his legs out and subsequently took out Tigers chances of winning. By some miracle the Tigers lifts for James Tamou's last game, smashes the Raiders next week and Broncos beats Dragons to scrape into the finals.

The only way we get in now is if the Raiders lose.

I think FA is out of reach. The Dragons aren’t that bad of a side to cop a 40-50 point hammering to us at home in their last game of the season, even that won’t be enough if the Raiders beat the Tigers.

Teams who finished 9th and how they went the next year.
Only 7 improved their position in 20 years.
The Tigers finished 9th 6 times.
This will be the first time in 20 years the Broncos have finished 9th.

2021: Sharks, 2nd*
2020: Titans, 8th
2019: Tigers, 11th
2018: Tigers, 9th
2017: Dragons, 7th
2016: Tigers, 15th
2015: Sea Eagles, 12th
2014: Warriors, 12th
2013: Titans, 14th
2012: Tigers, 14th
2011: Rabbitohs, 3rd
2010: Rabbitohs, 9th
2009: Panthers, 3rd
2008: Warriors, 14th
2007: Tigers, 12th

2005: Roosters, 14th
2004: Tigers, 4th
2003: Eels, 12th
2002: Sea Eagles, 14th

Just when I didn’t think my hate for cowboys could go any higher, we did it to ourselves but the one game I cheer them on they loose. I feel sorry for Carrigan.

Yeah well, it's going to be 8 teams in 21 after next year, particularly with Billy Walters steering the side from dummy half.

I'd like to think the opposite.

Hopefully they learn that taking your foot of the gas for even just a second........will hurt you everytime. They have to get tougher mentally....or they will never succeed.
Hopefully this doesn't break them, but makes them stronger.

The questions remains, is Kev capable of evolving as coach? The collapse that has happened makes it clear to me hes still learning how to man manage.

There's no way Billy is the starting 9 next year. I doubt he even plays many games as a backup.

I always enjoy watching South Sydney games, you learn a new rule every week and it invariably goes the Bunnies way.

I'm still waiting to see another player penalised for a bumper bar like Rhys Kennedy was.
You mean like RCG could've been this week when he elbowed Flegs in the throat.... or literally every hitup from JWH and NAS

Impressive list as usual, but it was probably winning the GF in 06... has anything gone our way since??

After that
- Bruno Cullen went about destroying the club... selling off Petero for Joel fucking Clinton, Berro gone, PJ Marsh in, knifed Bennett in the back, etc.
- Khunt instead of being future captain went to AFL
- Storm cheating the cap to keep qld's best talent down in Victoria and then proceeding to be the ones that knock us out of the comp every year for however many years straight

Ooh let me add, always the first team to play after a rule change or crackdown is decided and used as test Dummies.

I won't complain becuase its our own fault we are in this position. And this is similar to an earlier post about results going against us.

But does anyone have a screen shot of what the odds of us missing (or making) the 8 were from about after the eels match?

If you were to write down the sequence of events that would need to occur for Brisbane to miss the 8, four weeks ago you wouldn't even consider it possible.

It's genuinly frightening how often all the stars align against us leading to the downfall of this team.

But again, all we had to do was not even win - just not get flogged the last two weeks and we are still in the box position for finals.
Odds of making the 8 (from when I did the ladder predictions for the "thread that shall not be named"):
Pre season: $3
Early August: $1.05
Now: $5.50

To me it looked like the team looked tired for the last few rounds.

I wonder if Kevvie was ramping up the intensity at training a bit too much, thereby burning the players out a bit ?
