There have been plenty of teams over the years that have made much more improvement in a single season after a very poor season the year prior.
Cowboys for example... Panthers another one. Bulldogs, Sharks, the list goes on.
It's just not a good excuse. It's what people say to make them feel better.
My gut feeling is that the Parramatta win came too easy, we definitely had some luck in that game. Maybe the players and fans thought we were worthy of a top 4 spot based on that result alone.
Also I am not sure which Sharks team you are talking about, they finished 9th last season and only missed on F/A. Finishing 8th or 9th isn't a great season but it's not a complete car crash either. We've had a few car crash seasons recently, in consecutive years. I don't get why you can't accept it's a big step in the right direction.
For us it wasn't a case of changing playing personnel, it was the football department, the CEO. The cap is/was in all sorts, it was a disaster in every way possible. It doesn't just magically happen in 1 year. The Bulldogs and Cows teams you are talking about probably didn't need to revamp their entire organisation. A bit of perspective in required here, it's not that hard to fathom and once you can do that, you'll understand why it's been a successful year.
I would expect next year to be better again, in terms of results. If it's not, then I will be asking a few questions.
