Broncos pair cautioned by police

Yes, but preferably not something that could get us set upon by lawyers for the players, the club, etc.

Statement from Bruno Cullen said:
The Brisbane Broncos have spoken to two players today after enquiries
into events that took place on the northern NSW coast over the weekend.
Both players were warned by police about their behaviour and were told
to move on.
While the players complied with these directions and were neither
detained nor charged for any actions, the matter cannot end there for the
Broncos.
The two players will be disciplined by the club.
“We were advised very early this morning that there may have been
occasion for police to talk to two of our players over the weekend,†said
Broncos chief executive Bruno Cullen.
“I immediately began enquiries, and that involved speaking to the two
players involved and the Superintendant in charge of policing that
district.
“He confirmed two players were spoken to on Saturday night and that
they were co-operative, apologetic and remorseful.
“However we are extremely disappointed that the players put themselves
in that situation. We are constantly reminding the players about
acceptable levels of behaviour and the dangers of socialising, especially
in unfamiliar territory.
“Therefore we will be dealing with the matter internally by disciplining the
players involved.
“Once again, we are reminding players and representatives of the club
not to put themselves in these types o situations.â€Â

Perfectly said. Absolutely 100% true. Well done.

agreed.

my apologies for hinting at any players at all. i was not trying to drag players names through the mud, its just that when i hear these kind of reports i automatically wonder who it is, im sure atleast some other people on here do the same.

Yeah, the CGU nuffys should have been clearer about that before going off. I'll speculate by saying I bet they're speculating via PMs/facebook/MSN/Admin forum, but not in the public domain where it can bring about legal action.

I'd speculate that you should STFU!
Got your visa yet? Oh yeah, no... :P

In conclusion, STFU!

LOLZ

well to carry the conversation on without being controversial, why are the police reporting to the media that someone is taking a piss on a wall? i have been cautioned for doing the same thing but i dont read in the local rag "police caution 24 year old manager of local golf club" the next day

Can I ask how you even get caught pissing on a wall/tree?

Is it that you're so blind you don't realise what's going on, or it's just the worst timing ever?

(Edited to add the word "on" in the first line. Pissing a wall/tree means you have bigger issues to worry about.)

Who said the police reported it to the media? The media are generally patched into the police radio frequencies - they probably heard the guys call it into Police HQ, investigated a bit further and found out it was Broncos players = SENSATIONAL BEAT UP STORY!!!

Or a member of the general public might have witnessed it and called the media.

This point can't be repeated enough.

Note: players and representatives of the club! Ie, not your Joe Average who nobody gives a shit about. It's the same sorry argument. Some will say "why is it news, it happens 1000 times a week" while those of us who live in this world where as a society we scrutinise our public figures as closely as we would our own children realise that they just can't do the sorts of things "Joe Average" does each week.

And the only solution is to STOP doing it.

If that means not drinking, then these guys need to bite the bullet and STOP DRINKING.

i can understand if a member of general public reported it, but would that really be enough for the media to write a story on? if so wouldnt the person have recognised/told the media who it was?

if it was just hearing the police frequency, i dont think its wise for the police to be saying over the radio this person is a bronco, cause they would HAVE to know that someone else would hear it and report on it

If it's a well known person they may have named them. eg "Get this, I just warned Bec Cartwright for pissing on a wall"...

Likewise if it's a well known person and a member of the public rings in to say what they saw, all the media will do is contact someone at the police or the establishment where it happened to say "did you warn someone about such and such" and if the answer is yes, there's your story.

Doesn't take much.

[icon_lol1.

Bec would have sold that story along with the pictures to Woman's Weekly long before the cops caught wind of it.

Yeah, but New Idea would've broken the story first, so she'd discredit it by saying she wasn't pissing on a wall, it was her personal trainer Francesca.

The media probably do have the names but it probably isn't any high profile players which is why it makes it a much more sensational story just to say "Two Broncos Players" rather than "Player A and B who are contracted to the Broncos but no-one has really heard of them"
