Matt lodge poised to sign with redcliffe , next stop broncos thoughts

Following the usual NRL rehabilitation path I'd suggest. Make all the right noises, do the right 'courses' and devote yourself to 'concentrating' on footy and moving forward as a 'new' man with an inspiring story...

Still if the NRL are willing to register him and he can show good form, he is a big unit and is only 21. If we were happy to keep Francis Molo on the books...

edit: Not that I in any way condone what Lodge did, but the NRL has registered other convicted criminals who have committed serious and violent offences and I trust Wayne's opinion so if he chooses to sign him...

Sure, why not? If clubs like the Roosters, Sharks, Manly, Eels, and Dragons can benefit off major grubs, borderline criminals, and/or actual criminals, why shouldn't we? The guy, despite being a dick head of the highest order, is a really good prospect, and Wayne might be able to turn his life around.

Yeah hopefully . Apparently he is off the grog and is training the house down , there is defiantly potential

Also first on @7NewsQueensland tonight Kevin Walters and Wayne Bennett meet to mend fences. Broncos sounding Walters out for return.

If Bennett is thinking towards the future he could do worse than groom Kevvie for the job.
Now that Kearney is out of the frame getting Walters back now as assistant with the big job his in 2 years should be the plan.

I'm glad that Kevvie hasn't been totally shut out by the Broncos.

Well we were going to offer Russell Packer a contract

Who, unlike the Cronulla Sharks had a legitimate punishment.

My stomach will take a turn for the worse if this is true. First Packer offered a contract, then the Cheats 2.0 win a premiership, and now possible recruitment of Lodge... one can only take so much in the same year!

I would be really angry if Lodge walked straight back into the NRL with any club and especially the Broncos. His behaviour went way beyond the usual drunken footballer antics and I don't think he DESERVES or should be GIVEN another chance.
He is however a young guy and there's a chance he could turn his life around so it seems fair to allow him an opportunity to EARN another chance. Let him train and play with Redcliffe for a considerable amount of time and if he demonstrates that he really has changed and his form warrants it then fair enough.
In the meantime though keep him the hell away from my club please.

Isn't this exactly what is proposed?

Extremely disappointing if he ends up with us.

Don't care what anyone says, I will boo that fucker if he runs out in our jersey.

What if he scores a match winning length of field try against the storm?

I hope we get lodge and I think sooner the better he is the kind of aggression forward we need as long as his head is on properly
