Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

When I think of shit wingers, I think of the times Maranta kept fucking up or Oates doing more harm than good towards the end of the year. Someone who actually loses you games.
The way Kennar played, was sort of like Maranta when Maranta didn't make too many mistakes. He was catching the ball without any mistakes, he was looking to work the ball out, his positioning was fine in attack.
If Kennar was our first choice option, then it would be pretty shit. However he's on minimum wage, he seems like he wants to be there and put in unlike some other entitled players. He certainly never lost us any games.
I just don't see how it's a horrible signing for what it is.

Judging by this, I'd hate to see Pete's reaction if Gamble re-signed.
2019 Isaako was worse than any Broncos winger you can name. Put us under more pressure than Oates did this year

Sadly the Mole is usually spot on with depth signings.

I'm not a fan of the Kenner signing at all. I could understand a one year deal but even then it's an admission that Brisbane failed to sign any decent prospect to a contract. Now Kennar tried hard but it was evident that he wasn't capable of producing much more and he was still below first grade standard. He doesn't have much if any speed, he isn't a threat under the high ball, he doesn't break through tackles or offer any versatility. I'd almost release him, just to sign a centre so Farnworth doesn't have to spend any time there when he's clearly a winger.

We're not even two weeks into his reign and Kevie is already making blues.

I have to say, this is a level of cynicism from you that is surprising to see. At full strength, Kennar doesn't make the 17, and we always need depth for every position, including the wing. How is it a bad signing if he's on the cheap? Would your opinion change if and when we hear Oates is either on the outer or a full time second rower? Take him out of the picture entirely and our winger stocks suddenly start to look real thin, and I can't think of any better options off the top of my head that we could pick up on the open market in 2021.

Looks like some on here (not you) are forgetting their stattion..

We are the worst team in the comp

Let that sink in if it hasnt already...

Roberts isnt a World beater but quite frankly offers 2 things we have little off; leradership and is a fullback.

The blood letting at this club has hardly started, there are cancers in this playing group that need removing...i have said this many times.

So...given how late with all this we have bneen (CEO anyone?) Tyrone Roberts for mine is about as likley to join as anyone else you see linked to us in the emdia, and that list is shrinking by the day...simply because he is available..

Let THAT sink in.,..
Exactly who are the cancers at the Broncos? I'd like to know so I can let it sink in. Please name names with examples of their nefarious activities.

Mmm, big call. Wouldn't you say, "two weeks in and KW is making a mistake IN MY OPINION but time will tell if I'm right"?

I disagree with that comparison.

First off, you're comparing Melbourne one of the best teams of the past decade to the reigning wooden spooners. The side is led around by Cameron Smith arguably the best player of all-time and he's got a fantastic supporting cast - they have their priorities straight. I'd also argue that Sandor Earl has a higher ceiling and if you go back and watch his earlier days he was capable of some freakish tries. He was a project player who Bellamy brought in because he could afford to since he had winners - Brisbane don't.

Ability wise Richie Kennar and Sandor Earl are nothing alike either. Kennar is Manihera 2.0 who just makes metres inside his own half and offers nothing else. Earl, especially in his younger days was like Kyle Feldt. Awful hands but he was capable of scoring some unbelievable tries.

I wasn't comparing their skillsets, I was comparing their usefulness. They're both 3rd string wingers and won't get a game unless there's several injuries.

I also don't know why you're talking about Earl's upside or try scoring ability from his younger years, he's 31 years old and has literally no upside, he is what he is, bog average. Kennar on minimum wage is an absolutely fine 3rd string winger, if you're genuinely this opposed to the signing I'd hate to hear what you think about some of the signings that Bennett & Seibold made for the club over the last 3 or 4 years.

Not gonna lie....VERY disappointing that the only signing news is Kennar for 2 years. FOH.

Better get used to it for awhile. Our cap is a mess.

not really ... more that there is no quality on the market right now.

and if we're looking at quality thaqt is currently contracted to a team still in finals, it is unlikely those teams will assess their rosters and their needs until after they are eliminated.

Walters doesn't even technically start the job for another two weeks, I'd much rather see the club take time and work through what we need and who is available than panic sign a big name. Especially if there's still a chance Grant or B Smith will become available, you definitely want to get your powder dry to go after those guys the second they hit the market.

Wait till the finals finish
A few top clubs are gonna make some moves in the player market. Can’t be making them now because they don’t want to disrupt the season

There’s absolutely no way it is a mess. Anyone at the club saying that is saving face because we aren’t signing anyone this year and the fans and the media are both calling for signings

I don't have an issue with blue chip signings. Earl was signed in his late 20s after serving his four year suspension. Before then he had scored 17 tries from 29 games at the Raiders and was the type of player Bellamy would back himself to get the best out of. With the squad in the shape, it was in, it was worth the invesment although it didn't work out because he required a knee reconstruction early on in the piece.

I have an issue with handing players a two-year deal after contributing to two of the worst seasons in club history.

I agree with BP. He had a singular good game and then was very average, sometimes even below average for the rest of them. We already know what he can offer and giving him two years just seems like a waste. Who else was chasing him? Why not just a one year contract?

The Storm opted to re-sign Earl after the ACL injury.

So, signing a player who is past his prime years, hasn't played Rugby League in nearly half a decade and is coming off an ACL is worth the investment, but signing a guy in his mid 20's who's also dealt with multiple ankle and shoulder issues over the past 2 seasons, and was one of the only outside backs at the club in 2020 who wasn't a complete liability on both sides of the park every single game, is NOT worth the investment? For all we know, the 2nd year could be a team option.. For all we know it could be a 1 year deal. The media doesn't exactly have a great recent track record of accurately reporting the amount of years on deals.
