lamb isnt a bad kid but more suited to 6 than a typical 7 role i think.
i like him as a player but i am not sold just yet, he sort of reminds me of a shane perry type - handy skills but not overly quick (i could well be wrong though about his pace)

He’s quick enough, the skill set is what I really rate. Given you’ve commented on it, does that mean you think it is a chance of happening?

If so, that’s fantastic and given Wayne’s connectioncto Newcastle, I imagine he would have a bit of inside knowledge about Lamb at least.

i wouldnt have a clue to be honest. i know the knights wont let him go early and a lot will depend on how the year unfolds for him.
he could stay in newy and be next in line or if he did come north he may still be 2nd or 3rd in the queue up here and prob less money.
he should have some good knowledge about him, but the person i would be cautious of is mulholland. he is down at canberra now and had a bit to do with lamb coming through when he was at the knights with wayne - and i am not sure sezer and austin will survive many more years in canberra.

All teams in most cases will let a good player leave to find a run in spot or in the starting 17.

Would be keen on sezer for a year or 2 until paix or Boyd get going hard for a spot in the #7 jersey

Take it with a grain of salt but in an interview today on channel 10 Sammy hinted he is interested in another season if the club offers him one but he won't be playing elsewhere if he doesn't. Even if that was true, I don't think the club would be interested outside of a basement priced contract.

Yeah I read that article too. Wishful thinking on Thaiday's part unless he puts in the season of a lifetime and all our young prospects sign with the Titans or knights for overs or the Roosters for unders.

Yeah they wouldn't be offering him a contract he has been previously on when they could probably use that to help lock up 2-3 up and comers with that money, he would have to accept pretty much the minimum based contract and that is assuming they would be interested which I don't think they would be given a lot of the young forwards are on the edge of making the step up and from a long term perspective it makes more sense.

Thanks but no thanks, Sammy.

Sam will retire before the end of the season. Mark my words.

lol, he will retire at season's end which was his original plan. Why in the world would he call it quits in the middle of the season?

We will lose a heap of games with Kodi at 7 and the heat will be on everyone and the players close to retirement will feel the pinch and one will pull the pin early. Like when Alfie pulled the pin in 1999 after the horror start to the season.

It’s unlikely but plausible. He’s battled Osteitis Pubis for a few seasons now, and is on a pretty sharp decline. If the young kids fire and demand regular selection, there will be no shame in him stepping down and letting the next gen have their turn. He himself seems confident he still has a lot to offer, so we’ll see.

Speaking of Kodi, can someone post the article on the courier mail website "Broncos trial a challenge for niko".

Maybe if he was supplemented with peptides for the rest of the season his body wouldn't age so much. Hes had a rough 10 years of work.

Righto chicken little, put down the razor.

Kevin Walters challenges Kodi Nikorima to stamp his authority on Broncos No.7 jersey

KEVIN Walters wants Kodi Nikorima to stamp his authority in the Broncos No.7 jersey when he begins life as Brisbane’s chief halfback on Friday night.

Nikorima will pilot the Broncos in the trial against the Titans at Clive Berghofer Stadium in Toowoomba.

The hitout will be Nikorima’s first since becoming Brisbane’s first-choice halfback following Ben Hunt’s move to the Dragons.

The Kiwi Test international has been guaranteed the No.7 jersey by coach Wayne Bennett for the upcoming NRL season where he will form a permanent playmaking partnership with Anthony Milford.

CHALLENGE: No more excuses, says Thaiday

Walters, Bennett’s assistant, will coach the Broncos in the Toowoomba trial and said it was an opportunity for Nikorima to get a head start in his new role.

“I want to see him running the ball, that’s what he’s good at,” he said.

“He was terrific last year. His record when he’s played in that jumper for the Broncos has been outstanding.

“I’m sure he’s looking to start the season well.

“I know the season doesn’t start on Saturday, but he can get some good match practice in, particularly around his defence. That is all important for him in the next few weeks.”

The Broncos won 11 of 13 matches last season when Nikorima started at halfback. It may have been a coincidence, but Bennett has shown faith in the 55-game player to lead the Broncos in one of the most important positions on the field.

Nikorima will be the chief playmaker given Milford, fullback Darius Boyd and hooker Andrew McCullough will not play in the trial.

Instead, Nikorima will partner with Souths-Logan five-eighth Sam Scarlett while Todd Murphy starts at hooker and Jamayne Isaako at fullback.

“They’re going to have to work together there,” Walters said.

“We will keep it pretty simple with those guys, but they are experienced enough with the football they’ve played.

“Kodi wants to get better as a player, that’s what’s been most impressive.

“He’s put a lot of work into his kicking game and organising of the team as well.

“He is trying to improve and get his game better all the time. He has a long-term approach to make it better which will help the team.

Former Broncos pivot Darren Lockyer urged Nikorima to not overplay his hand given his new responsibilities.

“He doesn’t have to do too much different to what he did last year when he filled in for Ben Hunt,” he said.

“That’s a snippet of what will be expected. It’s about complementing each other and understanding each other’s roles.”

The Broncos will play their final trial against the PNG Hunters in Port Moresby next Saturday.

Alfie pulled the pin because he was the HB and captain and he was really struggling. He got dragged against the lowly Cowboys and Ben Walker rallied the team to an eventual draw that night. Alfie was a perfectionist and anything below his best wasn't good enough for him hence his retirement. But it was a knee jerk reaction and the wrong move. Sammy will have a good season (as will the Broncos). You are thinking of the worst case scenario there. Kodi isn't the answer but it won't necessarily affect the Bronco's season, not to the extreme it did in '99 at least.
