Yeah, that's all we need. Another Nikorima in our squad. Bennett said at the start of the year that he wasn't interested in Jayden and he is probably even less interested now. His career is over.Wonder who will get his spot in our top squad. Maybe opens up for Jayden Nikorima or
I'd sign Matt Purcell..I am concerned with the players we have not signed for next year, and what decisions we make about who to keep and who to move on.
Middle Forwards
Lodge, Haas, Flegler, Pangai Jr, Sims, Mago, Ofahenguae, Tagataese, McGuire, Fai Tueli, Carrigan
Edge Backrowers
Gillett, Glenn, Sua, Fifita, Savelio, Funaki, Staggs, Oates (maybe)
Hooker
Macca, Turpin, Murphy,
Halves
Bird, Milford, Nikorima, Dargan, Scarlett, Nona
Backs
Boyd, Oates, Kahu, Isaako, Bird, Roberts, Opacic, Shibasaki, Pangai, Pearson
Who we let go
I think - Sims, Tagataese, Fai, Funaki, Murphy, Scarlett, Pangai (Moses), Pearson, Nona, Nikorima. If I had to to accommodate re signings I would also move on Mago, Taeuli and Shibasaki but they are unlikely to be taking up much cap space.
Of the main squad I would also consider moving on Nikorima, Glenn and Kahu depending on what they are on, whether you have to pay any of their salary (England may be an option) and what cheaper replacements you could get. Kahu is injured a lot. Glenn has been great but prefer to retain younger guys if its a choice and Nikorima is a bench 9 playing halfback. I understand some are under contract but that is not so much an issue if you can move them on at low cost. If Bird was able to be moved for full salary move him as well (Big If). But also happy to give him a second chance next season, as his best is very good.
Potential Buys
Half, Backup hooker, cheap outside backs, Utility
Hastings. I think he has what we need and at best could be a success story like Roberts.
Lamb, Lam, Jacks, Elgey as half options. Not sure they have what we need
O'Neil or Lowe. Depending on contract size. Unlikely, given they would not be base.
Bapiste - Not a bad bench hooker option.
What does everyone think?
P.s Our young forward development is scary if you consider we have also lost Arrow, Hipgrave and Collins.

My controversial take:
Middle Forwards
Lodge (Keep and upgrade if possible), Haas (Definite Keep), Flegler ( definite keep), Pangai Jr (must keep and upgrade), Sims (let go), Mago (keep), Ofahenguae (must keep), Tagataese (keep on base wage), McGuire (keep unless an offer too good to refuse comes along), Fai (keep on base wage or let go), Tueli (keep on base wage), Carrigan (must keep)
Edge Backrowers
Gillett (keep as recently upgraded but watch injury comeback closely), Glenn (keep as on low wage), Sua (keep and upgrade), Fifita (must keep), Savelio (let go), Funaki (let go or keep on base wage), Staggs (keep on minimum wage)
Hooker
Macca (keep until better option comes along, there has to be one somewhere), Turpin (keep on minimum wage), Murphy (keep on minimum wage)
Halves
Bird (let go, pay part of wage if need be), Milford (keep), Nikorima (keep as on low wage), Dargan (keep on minimum wage), Scarlett (keep on minimum wage), Nona (let go and upgrade T.Boyd in place)
Backs
Boyd (retire, look to offload, though unlikely to be takers), Oates (must keep and upgrade, cannot lose this guy), Kahu (keep on current deal), Isaako (keep and upgrade), Roberts (keep), Opacic (keep as on low wage), Shibasaki (keep on minimum wage, Pangai (let go and maybe sign another young back on full-time wage), Pearson (possible keep, no longer looking all that promising)
Who we let go:
Bird first and foremost, Sims and Boyd, cannot lose Oates, Isaako or TPJ, they are the key re-signings.
My side for next year:
1. Isaako
2. Oates
3. Roberts
4. Opacic/Shibasaki/Staggs
5. Kahu
6. Milford
7. ??
8. Lodge
9. McCullough
10. McGuire/Ofahenguae
11. Su'a
12. Gillett
13. Pangai Jr
14. Nikorima/Staggs
15. Haas
16. Carrigan/Mago/Tueali/Tagataese
17. Fifita
We haven't seen much of Savelio. He is most likely on a low wage. Could probably play middle. If we get rid if Sims, then Thaiday it might pay off to have someone a bit experienced around with Taga as reserves. My controversial take:

Agreed...wasn't sure if serious.O’Neill or Lowe? That was a joke right? Like to see if we were still reading?
Agreed...wasn't sure if serious.
My feeling is that Boyd has been a fair bit better the last month or so, I think we should just keep him. It's going to be nearly impossible to find someone better over the next couple of years.
In terms of priority anyway, upgrading Fullback is way down the pecking order. Finding a Halfback to compliment Milford is 1(a) & 1(b), 2nd priority is retaining all of our talented forwards coming through.
3rd priority is sorting out the coach beyond 2019, whether that's WB or someone else.
Lowe would be alright if he was cheap, O'Neill is just a waste of space.
