It would also not surprise me that by freeing up this cap space now we are looking to advance pay some of our big contracts (like Boyd/Bird/Milford) over this year and next so that we have those funds available in our cap for 2021 to go hard at the market.

Backrow depth ???
Gillo - not even close to where he was and is following the same demise as tallis imo
Glenn - had hit some for in a big average team and has been shopped around.
Sua - young with a lot of potential but has been used incorrectly and sparsely.
Fifita - has been used incorrectly and is showing signs that he is in over his head and is feeling the pressure.
Also you add in that we are looking to the future we should be keeping sua,Fifita and one of gillo or Glenn , you need to keep depth like Melbourne do.
Showing signs he is feeling the pressure? Hahaha this will be good. He just did his job in origin game 1 and 2 without error or major issues. He did not look out of place, Predominantly in the middle too. So what more pressure does he need? Haha deadset. Also, how do you want him used? We have 2 80 minute 2nd rowers, he is 1dt cover for them. He does the middle well, he just isn't making highlight reels

Xavier Coates, vudogo, niu, harnsworth, and perese all sound around 1 year off true first graders. All the young broncos forwards are 1 or 2 years off consistent. We have lost so much experience that it looks it may take till the end of the year for seibold to pull the trigger on boyd and mccullough. I'm as frustrated as everyone on here but I truly think the right moves are being made, they just aren't being made right. I can see what seibold is trying to achieve but I believe the wrong experienced players were moved on and the band aid was ripped off a year too early. However, I think it will pay off in the end. It just feels so bloody far away at the moment because eall we hear about is player losses and losing games..

I was concerned about losing the experience from our side after the last time we tried it when we let Civoniciva leave and it backfired.

All I'm hearing are excuses made for Su'A but it was the same shit under Bennett as well. Didn't show what all the fuss was about.

As for being the only backrower that can play 80 minutes week in week out, Gillett and Glenn say hi.

Yeah cause they have been killing it hey , gillo was exposed in origin and hasn't been any better for the Broncos, Glenn has been ok but has has a few shit seasons prior . HI !!!

Well I must admit to feeling a little concerned with the exit of some of the talent particularly considering our performances this year but we certainly look like we are making an effort to evolve the roster and our spending. I expect that both Boyd and Macca will be part of the tidy and moved on at the end of their contracts.

We also certainly don't seem to be racing out and panic buying at this time which I think is a good thing, we've spent a bit on bargains just to keep us going, to me it looks like we are building towards 2021 for everything to come together.

I think next year you will see us look to the player market for quality in the key positions in which we are lacking for 2021. Between now and then we will continue to evaluate who we should keep.

I'm just going to remain positive at this time, however we could be in for a couple of lean years while all this plays out tho.
My thoughts also.

Seibold was bought in for the future not the past or present. At the minute all we can do is applaud the good wins and accept the losses and that we will gradually improve. My trust in our new coach putting together a team equal if not better to those in the top four is being tested but hasn’t waived.

When that happens, my hope is that our recruitment / retention don't go to sleep at the wheel again and do their job of keeping us in that position. Also that our administration gets to understand it’s not only bums on seats at home games that makes for a successful club its what happens on the field and how those bums feel when the games over.

Cory Paix signs Broncos extension
Paix will remain a Bronco for another three years!

Brisbane has handed young halfback Cory Paix an additional two-year deal, that will see him remain a Bronco until at least the end of the 2022 season.
Paix was already committed to 2020 at Brisbane, but has extended his deal, with head coach Anthony Seibold thrilled with the re-signing.
“Cory is a real investment in our future,” Seibold told broncos.com.au.
“He is only 19 years of age and is already playing halfback every week in the Intrust Super Cup and is acquitting himself well.
“He is a player that has come right through our elite player development system and has a very big future.
“To have Cory commit to the Broncos for another three years is very reassuring and wonderful news for the club.”

And? The argument is not whether they have been performing...

Haha ! Awesome job in both origins hey , he was supposed to provide impact through the middle against tired forwards?? Fail imo
Also for the Broncos he hasn't provided that either, no consistency. I'm not against the kid but he shouldn't be hidden from criticism.
He doesn't do the middle well at all , and not should he be expected to.

Gillett has started to hit his straps, but with a year out of the game he hasn't hit it consistently yet. Fifita has been going well, I don't get this myth that he has gone backwards. He does his job CONSISTENTLY no matter where he is put. That's what you want from a young player, especially a forward. Just because he isnt making highlight reels doesn't mean he is playing worse. Little to no errors, hits and sticks in defence, takes a couple of players to pull him down and he gives variety. Sua was missing tackles, making errors and not providing much in attack at all. Fifita has also given a higher workload in less minutes.

Put your glasses on buddy, gillo has been average

Fifita was not good in origin 2. Nor in the prior few broncs matches. I rate him highly!! But I hope he doesn’t get wasted also

Bullemor is a prop , hopoate is purely depth and piakura still to young.
That's your opinion, Hoppa's in the 30 and more then depth and has been playing a lot better then Su'a in ISC.
Bullemor has being playing some backrow for Devils.
Piakura is still young and I'm not to sure on his contract situation.

but that's what depth is.
Glenn/Gillo
Fifita
Hoppa/Su'a
Bullemor
Piakura

Well in terms of depth we have 4 starter worthy players plus the highly rated Bullemore coming through and potential for TPJ as an edge forward.

If Sua is on $400-500k which I believe was reported through to 2021 (I think... and can't be bothered looking back for the article) then he's not representing value for money.

If he is released it mostly likely means Glenn is re-signing for probably 2 more years on about half that wage. Glenn and Gillett therefore get 2 more years which eventually progresses to Fifi starter (probably next year with Glenn on the bench) and Bullemore coming through at the right time for Gillett's retirement.

The alternative is likely Glenn leaving this year, Fifi starting next year and paying $400 or so for Sua on the bench until Gillett retires followed by blocking pathway for Bullemore.

The former seems more like a Melbourne approach with Bullemore coming through as Gillett exits.

Bullemor will be and is a prop.

Bullemor will be and is a prop.

Two of the last three weeks have shown the opposite- two weeks in a row he had his first crack at starting at prop, and then last game back to second row.

His impact was a lot less, he is too smart and reacts to situations too quick to be a up and down prop. He is quick and powerful. He's good backing up the middle like he did against Townsville and chasing kicks like Souths. I like him coming on all over the place he's been great doing it for Norths. He's on both sides and taking advantage of his instincts.

Wasted intelligence getting him bashed.

Maybe a lock in the style of a Cam Murray or Radley, rather than an extra prop sort of lock, like Turbo or Gallen?

Ok , so what's your thoughts on releasing sua ?

This is getting ridiculous. Sua has had so many excuses made for him. First it was his injury, then it was seibold not using him right in the games, then it's his team isn't performing at qld cup level. We are 15 rounds in ffs.
He got a few shots at 2nd row in nrl and he got shown up by a 31 year old who everyone wanted gone, a 30 year old coming back from a much more serious injury then his with a longer lay off, and an 18 year old with about 15 games experience. He got used in the middle just like fifita did, BECAUSE seibold was trying to utilise him as he didn't perform good enough at 2nd row, then that was bad for him (seems fifita and gillet havent gone backwards due to a few minutes in the middle, odd that so he was put back to qld cup and now he has joined a shit team its not his fault he hasn't stood out...

I mean seriously wtf does he have to do for his form to be his fault? Haha.. He might come good, in fact I think he will. But he isn't worth a 1/4 of the money he is currently lot at the moment and we have better current and future options the way he has played now, and even in the past...

I've made a few excuses for Sua tbh, and I think they were valid at the time, but now I don't think he has any excuses. He has to lift his game and he isn't. I got told last year about his wonderful stats and how much better than Glenn he was. Well, What Glenn has can't be measured by stats. Something that make a player simply can't be quantified into stats. Sua need to take a leaf out of Glenn's book imo.
