$730k a year is a nice offer, I doubt our offer would be that high. I think the knights will need to stump up more cash.

Great offer but I think he'd be out of the game within a year at that place.

I think Newcastle is a team that would drive a tea totaller to drink). That gagai is in contention for origin from such a team says a lot about him. I would love to see him back at some point, but with bird here and another halfback on the books someyime, I can't see it happening. Maybe when Boyd goes, maybe. There so much talent coming through in the likes of allen , isaako, it'll probably never happen.

Keegan Hipgrave set to join Titans after being granted release by Broncos

THE Titans have continued their poaching raids on Brisbane’s forward stocks by nabbing a former schoolboy star who is in line for a shock NRL elevation.
Keegan Hipgrave, 20, is expected to arrive on the Gold Coast within days after being granted an immediate release by the Broncos last week.
The Broncos were reluctant to let Hipgrave go, however they are well stocked with young forwards entering the NRL.
Hipgrave could be blooded in the NRL within weeks because of the Gold Coast’s injury problems.
The Titans lost lock Ryan Simpkins to a knee injury in Saturday’s 38-36 away win against the ladder-leading Storm at Suncorp Stadium.
Simpkins is awaiting scans but may have ruptured the anterior cruciate ligament which would end his season and thrust Hipgrave into NRL calculations.
Hipgrave is a former captain of Palm Beach Currumbin, the school which delivered Darius Boyd, Kevin Proctor and Ben Hannant to the NRL.
He represented the Australian Schoolboys, Queensland under-18s and was in line for Junior Kangaroos selection this year before suffering an injury.
Hipgrave and Jai Arrow shared the players’ player honours of the Broncos under-20s in 2015 and Arrow is being chased by the Titans to join the Gold Coast next season.
The Titans made a shrewd recruitment decision in snaring Jarrod Wallace from the Broncos for 2017 and beyond.
Wallace has been sensational for the Titans in 10 appearances this year, running for 207m in the Gold Coast’s upset win against the Storm.

Warriors target Broncos and Kiwis prop Adam Blair for 2018

  • The Warriors are chasing Adam Blair to join the club next year, with coach Stephen Kearney and managing director Jim Doyle having a meeting with the Kiwis prop.
The club have been toiling away in the background to improve the roster for 2018 and have targeted Blair as a player they'd like to have on their books.
They've had a meeting with Blair to explain to him what they're trying to create at the Warriors and how he could play a big part in the club's future.
Blair's contract at the Broncos doesn't run out until the end of next season, but Wayne Bennett could allow him to go early to free up space inside the salary cap.
The Broncos have recently signed Jack Bird from the Sharks for $4 million over four years and have upgraded Anthony Milford's contract with a new four-year deal, believed to be worth more than $1 million a season and they're also keen on keeping Darius Boyd.
Sam Thaiday, Alex Glenn, Jordan Kahu and James Roberts are also off contract at the end of the season and looking for new deals.
With so many big contracts, the Broncos are likely to be in a situation where they need to offload some players.
Blair would be a perfect fit for the Warriors, at the age of 30, he's still in his peak years and not only is he one of the NRL's top props, he's also a leader.
That's something the Warriors haven't had with Wests Tigers bound Ben Matulino and with Ryan Hoffman leaving next year another strong voice among the forwards would come in handy.
He has a good relationship with Kearney, who despite overlooking him for the 2013 Rugby League World Cup, made him co-captain with Issac Luke for the 2015 tour to England.
Blair left Whangarei when he was 16, recruited by the Melbourne Storm and he moved to their feeder club, the Norths Devils in Brisbane.
He was one of the Storm's best players before he left to join Wests Tigers for a big money deal in 2012. He failed to live up to the hype around him in Sydney and moved to the Broncos in 2015, where he was able to regain his best form.
Signing Blair would continue the Warriors' theme of looking to bring back New Zealand players, with Tohu Harris already signed for next year, but it shows they're being innovative with their recruitment.
The Warriors can look at players who are coming off contract and in that case they're competing with other clubs for the player, or they can look at players who aren't coming off contract, but might be granted a release because of salary cap pressure.
That's the situation at the Broncos, as it is with the Bulldogs, who are going to have to release players to get under the cap in 2018, now they've signed Aaron Woods and Kieran Foran for next year.
Sam Kasiano has been linked to a move to the Storm and there are number of clubs who'd be interested in picking up James Graham.
Meanwhile at a press conference last week Kearney said there could be news sooner rather than later on which direction the Warriors will head in to get a replacement for Foran.
The chances of keeping Foran for another year were higher than most people speculated, but they had been exploring other options while they waited for a decision.
They had been talking to a few halves and have narrowed that down to a couple of options, with Te Maire Martin from the Panthers being one of them.
The Tokorua-born Martin is keen to come, but the Warriors haven't decided which way they're going to go yet.
The Panthers, who are chasing Cooper Cronk, wouldn't stand in Martin's way if he asked for an early release from his contract to join the Warriors.
Martin has fallen out of favour at the Panthers and with the team that was tipped by many to win the Premiership this year, having got off to a poor start there has been a change in philosophy at the club.
Instead of going with two young and inexperienced halves in Martin and Nathan Cleary, they now want to bring in a more experienced player and are looking to sign Cronk to partner Cleary next year.

Thaiday isn't off contract is he?

I'd let Glenn go before Blair
Letting Glenn go won't save anything under the cap if what @Smokin' Joe says is correct and the offer to Glenn is close to mininum wage.

Blair is under contract for next year wouldn't make sense to release him early

Yep. Glenn I think will be getting some of the long service cap space in his contract this year. He would be eligible for it now

He has been awesome but he's also getting older. Plus we've got the capacity to replace him now with some good juniors coming through. Would rather lose Blair now instead of keep Blair for a few more years losing some solid juniors, and then still lose Blair to retirement anyway. Don't forget, he's the same age as props like Matt Scott.
I would like to keep him considering all the 1% plays he does, plus those handy offloads, but I wouldn't be too upset if we lost him as opposed to some of our other players.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like this next year:
8. McGuire
9. McCullough
10. Ese'ese/Sims
11. Thaiday/Glenn
12. Gillett
13. Arrow

14. TPJ
15. Sims/Ese'ese
16. Glenn/Thaiday/Su'A
17. Su'A/Fai/Niko(if not HB)

We might miss his experience a little in the beginning, but I feel the above is still a solid future thinking rotation.

Experience is much needed for our younger guys. Would rather hang on to him until retirement than let him leave early and stunt the development of our young forward pack. Him and Thaiday are real leaders in our forward pack and the young guys should be learning all they can off them.

Moose isn't a prop.

And he doesn't bring the same skill set as Blair.

Yet to be sold on Arrow.

You're right, but I don't think it would be too bad.
McGuire back to prop brings some experience to cover the loss of Blair.
Arrow may be young, but I believe he's a very mature player anyway.
Thaiday and Sims can bring some maturity. Don't forget about Glenn.

That rotation isn't that young.
