I've never even heard his name so I'm not too sure he is a massive loss. We have plenty of talented youngsters to cover us for 10 years.

In my opinion we owe them a few on choosing certain players, so it would be nice to see them pick up the dud for once...

Talanoa has said that Tino is the better player between him and Haas...

He is a pretty big lose in terms of our junior talent. Was the standout for 16s Origin last year...

Well if thats the case , why did we opt for hass? Broncos must think otherwise.
I doubt it's a case of the Broncos picking Haas over Tino. Maybe Haas had less interest and was easier to sign or maybe Tino was always going to explore his options.

SAM Thaiday is a Broncos man through and through.
While some south of the Tweed take exception to the “third man in” they see niggling their beloved Blues every year, Brisbane fans see a loveable larrikin who will give his all for their club.
But this latest revelation from the seasoned forward may surprise even the most devout supporters.
Thaiday told foxsports.com.au he is prepared to take a significant pay cut for the sake of Brisbane’s long-term health.
He also revealed where he thinks Jack Bird fits into the 2018 line-up, and the work Anthony Milford must do to become a representative player.

THE SACRIFICE
Thaiday is about to turn 32.
He signed a contract extension back in 2015 which expires at the end of the 2018 season. It’s thought to be worth about $400,000-a-year to Sam and the Broncos.
For a veteran backrower who’s closing in on 300 NRL games, and still represents Queensland and Australia every year, that doesn’t sound like such a ludicrous amount of money for a club to fork out.
But it all counts when the Brisbane masterminds are trying to balance the books.
The Broncos have already paid big money to lure Jack Bird to the club next year. Anthony Milford is on the verge of announcing a new deal which is rumoured to be worth upwards of $1 million-a-season.
Then there’s captain and fullback Darius Boyd, internationals Alex Glenn and Jordan Kahu, and exciting speedster James Roberts all in need of a new contract this year. They’ll demand significant cash.
Ben Ikin, Nathan Ryan and Ben Glover are joined by Kieran Foran’s manager Sam Ayoub to discuss his move and the fallout for the Bulldogs and Warriors.

And Thaiday says if he can help the club spend a little extra to strengthen its roster, he is happy to sacrifice some of his own dollars.
“I think at the end of the day if you want to be a genuine premiership team sometimes you have to make sacrifices, and a lot of the time it is monetary ones,” Thaiday told foxsports.com.au.
“You want to build a team and keep a team together, and build some consistency as a squad ... you do sometimes need to give a bit and take a bit here and there.
“I’m probably coming to the back end of my career and the majority of my contract now is third-party stuff where I have to work for it.
“I’m more than happy to sit back and take a bit of a cut on the contract stuff and work harder away from footy and off the field to earn my money that way.
“If I do after this year want to extend my contract, if my body feels up to it, I’m sure that will be a discussion my management will have with the club.”
THE MILF MEMO
Milford’s new deal is an important one for coach Wayne Bennett, who has already lost halfback Ben Hunt for next year.
Milford, 22, is one of the game’s best young halves and considered a future Maroons and probably Kangaroos star.
The only question now is which jumper he wears for the Broncos when Hunt leaves.
Currently a gun running five-eighth, it’s believed Bennett may want Milford to don the No.7 strip to allow recruit Bird to wear the No.6.
As neither player is considered a genuine halfback, the move would mean Milford would have to adopt an unfamiliar role in the team.
Thaiday admits his young teammate has plenty of work to do.
“Milford’s still got to find his voice, find his big boy pants, but once he does that you could slot a player like Jack Bird into that five-eighth role if you wanted to put the No.7 on Milford’s back,” Thaiday said.

“(Milford) will be a fantastic rep player going forward; his time will come, he just has to be patient and make sure that he is taking a leaf out of Johno’s (Johnathan Thurston’s) book, making sure he’s ticking a lot of boxes with the things he does and come up with a really round game which is consistent as well.
“I think being as young as he is, he still hasn’t found his voice, and when he does find his voice on the field he’ll be a lot more demanding and will be a fantastic halfback that can really control and steer a team around the field.”
As for Bird, Thaiday says his role at five-eighth will be dependent on Milford’s progression between now and next season.
“I’m unsure what type of role he’ll play in our team and I think that’s the beauty of Jack Bird. He can play lock, he can play in the centres, he can play in the halves,” Thaiday said.
“I don’t know if Wayne’s going to use him in that way, but we’ll see what happens once he gets up to Brisbane.”

REP FUTURE
Thaiday admits it’s getting harder and harder to recover from playing in the NRL week to week.
As his 32nd birthday approaches, Thaiday is facing the prospect of a full campaign with the Broncos, an Origin series, and a World Cup all within the space of nine months.
He’s been moved from the starting side to the bench in recent years and his minutes per game are becoming fewer.
But he says he’ll keep putting his hand up for representative jumpers as long as coaches are happy to pick him.
He isn’t planning to follow Johnathan Thurston into rep retirement.
“I’m definitely feeling sorer and sorer after games now but I’ll continue to play good footy for the Broncos and hopefully I get another chance to play for Australia at the end of the year,” he said.

“I’d much prefer to continue playing good footy for the Broncos and put my hand up, if I do get selected I get selected.
“If not, I’ve had a fantastic rep career; I debuted in 2006 for Queensland and Australia and have been a part of some fantastic sides since then.”
But for now, Thaiday’s planning to do all he can to help his beloved Broncos bring the premiership trophy back to Red Hill one last time before he walks off into the sunset.

It's just another example of the whole 'Brisbane have all of Southern Queensland' to choose from narrative being complete drivel. There is only so many resources you can give these players and when you get a Kalyn Ponga or Tino Fa'asuamaleuai emerge you can bet there are clubs out there that will devote far more resources just to nab that one player. I haven't seen a lot of Tino, but his name has been making the rounds ever since he was 12 years old as a prospect to watch out for and I hope like Taumalolo and Milford before him he can live up to that hype.

What will be interesting is to see how he fares in comparison to Payne Haas. Brisbane went to some length to attract Haas to the club and if he doesn't equal up to Fa'asuamaleiau it could prove to be a big bust.

Having Tino at the Sunshine Coast probably didn't help. Trigger was all over this and in his weekly chats with Bellamy.

Is he rated more than hass 1910 ?

I haven't watched him play, Trigger loves him (Falcons ISC coach). He's had him training one day a week with the ISC team. Haas just made the Junior Roos- didn't play but made the team so he's further along than a guy just starting.

Haas has impressed me this year no doubt. Can't make a comparison though.
