I don’t think his mrs enjoyed the Brisbane lifestyle and I think, because she’s a smoke show, that bird would be happier back in Sydney.
 
Was thinking, if Bird does leave and we are not paying too much of his salary, why don't we go all out and throw 700k or so at Cronk for a year. Convince him to postpone retirement. The added bonus is Dearden gets one helluva mentor for 12 months!

I'm sure Cronk won't be interested now that he's settled in Sydney, but you just never know sometimes. It would also solve our captaincy dilemma for a year until Carrigan takes over in 2021. To see Cronk in a maroon and gold jersey is the stuff dreams are made of.

Cronk will make that money working as a coach and in the media for the next 15-20 years. I doubt he’d move from his mrs for that... have you ****ing seen her?

He could still see her at least once or twice a week though. More than the money, it would give Cooper the chance to possibly win premierships at 3 different clubs. Like I say, it's a million to one chance of happening, but **** me if it doesn't get the blood pumping thinking about the possibility.

That is true, but for just a 12 month contract, come home to Brissy for a year, get the Mrs and kid to visit regularly, get down to Sydney twice a week. Maybe his stance that he would only live in Sydney may have softened a bit. Geez I reckon it would be worth a try. No harm in asking the question to him.

maybe if we offered him 2 million, but even then it is unlikely

Oh a million to one. But he's just the ultimate pro and would work wonders for this team. It's nice to dream.

I would still be having a quick word with his management regardless just to plant the seed in his head.

Yeah I only think Lewis makes sense if they are persisting with Milford at 1. Thus, Dearden and Lewis in the halves. Which I don't like.

Milford is a 6. He was one of the best players in the world in 2015 and 2016. A solid halfback, whether that be Dearden, Sezer or Townsend (or someone of they ilk) is what we need. A steady hand with a good kicking game. Peter Wallace was a numpty but he took a lot of pressure off Lockyer and that's what Milford needs.

Try and throw money at Holmes or Papa at fullback and we would look good.

I have no idea how he's going, or if it's at all feasible. But if we can't get a fullback for 2020, what's karmichael hunt doing... If he came cheap, could be a short term fix for a year...

Honestly he will always be the player I wish we never lost. You watch Broncos highlights from 2007-2009 and just the way he would wrap around and then do perfectly placed grubbers on the run to setup the wingers... I think a lot of people forget just how insanely talents he was.

If you want to leave Milf at 6 than we don't need a halfback, we just need a fullback. If we were able to get Lewis he should play at 6.

That's basically exactly what I said. But I don't think Milford is fit, fast or big enough to be a fullback. We need a specialist fullback.

Then we should find Milf a new home too. He is far too inconsistent at 6 and not reliable when the game is on the line.

That's not his olaystyle. He needs a stable hand so he can chime in and do moments of brilliance.

I think I would prefer a half who is busier and not just choosing to chime in when he feels like it. You don't necessarily need Milfords level of skill to produce brilliant plays. Less skilled halves can create similar plays through sheer effort and attitude.
