Tend to agree mate. Chambers on a basic contract of 150-250k wouldn't be the worst thing in the world, unwanted rep player and all. As for my thoughts I think we need a half and a fullback and I'm pretty sure Bird will be leaving. If you don't mind me asking what's your take on the situation?

Agree with most of your comments Tom my man! Chambers was contracted to the Storm for 2020 so whether that means they may contribute some portion of his salary, I don't know. If we didn't have to pay more than $150k, I think it might be worth the risk with Storm contributing some.

All depends though on what we will be paying towards Bird's salary next year. He is absolutely gone, make no mistake about that. We will have to contribute a fair portion though I dare say. Still, should free up a fair bit of loose change to spend elsewhere.

Look, I am a big fan of Hastings and believe his time to shine in the NRL has come. I want that to happen with us next year. I believe it will and am growing ever more confident Hastings will be our number 7 in 2020.

In terms of coaching, we must get rid of Ben Cross and get a proper assistant in to assist Seibold. Now some folk may laugh at the following suggestion, but I believe we could do a lot worse than signing up Nathan Brown as an assistant. He may be a craptacular head coach, but he is experienced, knows his stuff, and would offer a heck of a lot more than Cross.

As for fullback, I honestly don't believe we will be signing up anyone new for that role. If it is not Milford remaining there, I think Isaako will get the gig. The new bloke Arthurs will get a try out in the trials to show what he's got, but yeah, not convinced about either of them being able to handle it.

I know it was briefly discussed here recently lads, and the vibe was fairly negative from memory, but are there any takers for Will Chambers for our right centre spot?

Bellamy has just confirmed he has played his last game for the Storm. He would have to be better than Darry B at centre, surely?

Why would we replace one washed up player with another? I would consider walking away if we signed Chambers.

Oppa was in great form in the latter stages of this season. I don't know if that was in every game though. Just what I saw of him which admittedly was not a great deal. I always thought he had talent.

Mbye and Morgan are not centres so I don’t see the problem in putting Oates and Fifita there

I'd take Opacic over Chambers every day of the week. Chambers is a liability.

opacic was a good player I was sorry to see leave. that said, I can't see why we would be signing anyone there when we have other priorities. Surely we can develop what we have. What we need are halves. Everything else is an unneeded expense. Its following the "Bird" strategy where you buy on "good" deals and not what you needed. Sign one and a half halves (a decent quality one and a journeyman to fill gaps). Then replace who's retiring with depth to cover our development strategies, in case they don't perform.
