Broncos Player Movement and Rumours 2020

A bit of a random one here but Joseph Manu is currently putting himself to market as the Roosters are unlikely to offer anything more than he is on now.

New Zealand international who would be a very good fit at fullback for us. Likely to get him for around 600k and was one of the best on field for the roosters this year. In particular during the origin period when he played fullback when Teddy was on rep duties.

Thoughts?
Definitely worth looking at, but I read an article from him saying that negotiations have been ongoing with the Roosters all year, that he does not want to leave them and that they should have something finalised shortly. The going to market thing is probably just to test his value to make sure he is not shafting himself in the deal with the Roosters.

I’d rather put Bird at fullback.

He has more runs on the board than Manu and he is already on our books.

If he manages to stay fit and healthy, Bird will be a real asset to this team no matter where he plays, but particularly if he was given the fullback jersey.

Manu is just working out his market value. He won't go anywhere and he is not a player we should be going after. Keep Fifita and get Cronk. Try and move on Boyd Gillett, Macca and Bird. Add some base price cheapies to replace the ones that have left i.e Fensom Tagataese Dargan etc. That's all we should do.

Fifita and Croft the priorities but if there was enough money left after that, yes Manu should be sought after.

DCE? Are people serious? In what world could we possibly have the cap space to buy one of the most expensive players on the market who would no doubt be a target for several other clubs if he became available?

No way in the world he is coming here unless we clear Boyd, Macca, Bird and probably dont re-sign Fifita and Oates. That's a serious long shot by anyone's definition.

I worry a bit we are looking for elite across the board instead of functional in some positions. We just cant manage our cap if we work like that.

I wish our spine was elite.

I reckon he's better than mitchell.

I wish our spine was functional.

Parts of it are. When it was:

6.Milford
7. Dearden
9. Turpin

We looked pretty good. Even Boyd was a little better at this time. It's not elite, though. But it would allow for elite support around the spine.

Apart from the Cowboys game, we didn't look good again this year unfortunately. That spine will come good eventually but they need a good off season and have no excuses to look like they have a clue in 2020. I'd be happy starting the season with if Isaako can work on his catching and Milford doesn't take ten rounds to look somewhat fit again.
1 Isaako
6 Milford
7 Dearden
9 Turpin
There's literally no excuses next year. Everyone needs to be held accountable, not just the usual suspects.

We wouldn't need to pay full price for DCE. He's salary would be heavily subsidized by Manly as he is still under contract with them. We could fit him under the cap if we offload a few players, none of which would be Fifita.

In saying that, Manly officials and people close to DCE are saying it's rubbish. He isn't leaving Manly.

ReadingThePlay started the rumour I believe. He's about as reliable as Daniel.

I'll bite..

Who do you think wasn't held accountable this year? Obviously Boyd & McCullough copped plenty, the usual suspects, but there was more than enough blame placed on guys like Milford, Isaako, Oates, Gillett, Ofahengaue, Pangai Jr throughout the year.

The only players who really didn't cop much were Haas, Fifita, Glenn & Staggs, and that's because they were comfortably our best 4 players this year.

I don't necessarily mean on here. The media, the club, the fans need to hold the team more accountable. The board has no more excuses, Seibold has no more excuses, Milford has no more excuses, Boyd has no more, McCullough has no more, Gillett has no more, Isaako has no more. If they aren't the best option for the team then they have to go. In saying that, there were constant excuses made for Milford, Ofa, Isaako and Pangai throughout the year. The entire team was terrible apart from the 4 you named, yet every thread was filled with McCullough and Boyd comments. They still are actually. The excuses need to stop for everyone on every platform, except Facebook because the people who comment on Facebook posts are idiots and don't count anyway.

Yeah i thought this earlier in the year. You could play him like the big powerful 'inglis-style' full back.

That's because they're the oldest and most likely / most realistically to be moved on, and for no other reason. It has nothing to do with people "making excuses" for anyone else.
