Got to feel for Mahoney, he was touted by fans as a sure thing QLD long term hooker and he’s already been discarded for a younger player

he simply never runs the ball though.....its actually really limiting the Eels right now.....granted times on his side but unless we had Kerrod Walters as a coach to teach him.....probably no harm keeping what we have now...

it is not much but.....here are some stats for Hunt, though I cant seperate them from the time he spent at half which probably makes it all pointless...

Dummy half runs - 10th in the league
Tackles completed - 18th
Line engaged - 22nd
All receipts - 7th

so yeh.....make of that what you will...

When is Su'a off contract? Lets get him back

Hopefully we put some effort into chasing him. He's really starting to live up to his potential. Blame it on Seibs.
Yep, he's become quite the player. Runs hard, tackles harder, high workrate, wants to be involved.

Su’A’s biggest problem was he came back from injury, wasn’t fit and was awful. That was also when we had Gillo playing lock and killed his career. Absolute genius work. Would be nice to still have an experienced leader (and probable captain) and right side second rower to keep that defence together - can guarantee with Tom and Matt that Staggs wouldn’t be anywhere as bad as he is in defence.

I don’t know if Su’A is the answer, because he’s still not very experienced and would probably have to get used to being suspended often if he pulled a Broncos jersey on again.

Not sure what’s going on with Te’o but he’s a good stop-gap to continue giving game time to Riki.

I'd love to bring back:

Opacic
Su'A
Allan
Lui
Hunt (on discounted wage and only as a 9)

Bring back the farm and I reckon you've got the more balanced squad as needed in those guys there. I would also try and bring in a gun 9 (if Hunt isn't available) and an experienced but not over the hill second-rower, but also not over-priced, someone like Guerra.

My worry with this is that it would make us better, but it’s not even close to enough to make us win premierships.

We’d be thereabouts again, but fail when it mattered. Back to where we’ve been for too long.

If nothing else good comes from the last few years, the chance to tear it down and rebuild it is one positive to take away.

We just need good engineers now, but we’ll somehow probably end up with these blokes.

Of course these guys aren't going to be the final ingredient to win a premiership but thanks to the idiot coach who got sacked, this side needs to become competitive first and these guys will help with that. If a Grant and RTS or someone of that ilk can ALSO be signed, then we are talking.

Long term players like Opacic, Lui and Hunt arent the answer. Short term, they are probably what we need. Reliable, no fuss, low maintenance players, some of them on pretty cheap contracts that will allow us to rebalance both the squad and the cap. It would also let us develop our younger blokes at a slower rate without burning them out.

Nothing a bit of caulk wont fix

Would think he would be around the 800k+ a year Mark,I don't think we would need to move anyone on to have a crack but offa would be the most likely if we had too.
