I tend to lean more towards this. There is really nothing in the article that suggests he has asked for a release beside "We can exclusively reveal...". Other than that it's a collection of old quotes and rumours born from the Daily Telegraph in the first place.

And if this isn't true what the papers are saying we will see a statement or a tweet etc. by the end of today. He is at a nationally televised tournament if the papers are lying it would take him give seconds to grab a mike and clear it up

i honestly strongly believe while in England he was on a self imposed media ban. That explains first his lack of response and eventually the content of that response. He may be one again
