OFFICIAL Broncos release Andrew McCullough

That's what stood out to me as well @ivanhungryjak, I don't think Broncos fans have seen the last of McCullough.

Otherwise it's a win/win. Newcastle get an NRL calibre player to fill a position of need, McCullough gets to assume a role that suits him and the younger players at the Broncos get an opportunity to showcase what they're made of.

Why would Paul White say that when he's pissing off at the end of this year?

firstly the board are trying to get him to stay to lead the club out of the COVID-19 situation

secondly, because Macca has been a great clubman (notwithstanding talent) and certainly a great role model for our younger players ... i doubt you would find any CEO in world sport give the type of response you want him to give.

Oh yay!
i doubt you would find any CEO in world sport give the type of response you want him to give.
No the statement made was fine except for that line. At this stage Paul White is leaving at the end of this year and what the club does beyond that is none of his business.

He's played 250+ games and been in the system for a decade, usually that sort of thing gets rewarded with a life membership when they retire.

Always remember Macca bolting with that awesome, miracle ankle tap against the Roosters Michael Gorden to deny his try in 2017. Can't remember the round.

Well I certainly hope that's what he meant.

He's good defensively on the edges, doesn't have the size to come on and defend in the middle. Would be better for his development playing 80 in the halves in QCUP.

Paix is a unit and has been training / playing 9 on and off for the last 18 months, he should be the utility.

Yeah see how he goes he has played about 3 games at hooker

This is the best news about rugby league I've heard in awhile.

Finally. I appreciate Maccas service to the Broncos but his time is well and truly over. This was the right decision, it's been overdue actually.

Time to look at the future.

It’s only unlikely if he attracts better offers though right?

If we get Teo could we be losing someone? In a fully fit squad who sits out? Or are we expecting TPJ to keep getting suspended every few games?

Te'o would be decent depth, at the moment if we lose one of our elite forwards we're suddenly playing Rhys Kennedy, that's not going to cut it in the finals.

Full strength -

8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Glenn (c)
12. Fifita
13. Carrigan

14. Paix
15. Pangai Jr
16. Ofahengaue
17. Flegler

Te'o would be very useful over the next 3-4 weeks with the Fifita injury and TPJ suspension, but after that point, I doubt he'll even be in our 17. Good veteran presence around training I suppose. Maybe he can get TPJ to pull his head out of his ass.

I just doubt that Te'o wouldn't be in the 17, unless his performance was worthy of being dropped.
