Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

Personally I don’t think it’s worth worrying about. There are 3 outcomes:

- Haas and the club agree to mutually beneficial extension within the years available on his current contract to do so.

- Haas and the club don’t reach an agreement and we have Haas for 3 years on a cheap deal while being able to succession plan

- The only negative outcome is Payne and the club don’t agree and Haas becomes a disruptive force wanting out of his contract. (Which I think is unlikely).

Re-signing Haas on a fair longer deal is a great outcome but losing a prop with 3 years notice gives you plenty of time to replace him. Far from the end of the world. No player can do what Haas does but there are ~ 8 forwards in a footy team (3 of them middles + bench) that can spread that load if you build the right pack - fullback, for example, is a different story because a team only has 1.

This only becomes an issue when like Fifita it drags out into their final contracted year and the club doesn’t have a clear plan for recruitment the next season.

Hi all, just to avoid confusion, for comments on the Payne Haas story, please post them in the developing Payne Haas story thread so we don't have two conversations going on about the same thing. Thanks all.

With all the talk of expansion and not enough quality players, surely they can just reward clubs for developing players better. Like if you’ve been signed by the club since 15 or 16 you get a 20% discount on the salary cap for entire career or until they leave the club.

That's when the vulture teams just hoard all the young talent, sign all the promising young players like the Roosters were doing a few years anyway.

Yeah but you won’t be able to keep all of them. Or maybe have a limit on how many of each age you can have.

also, with the roosters, I think a lot of their young players were signed at another team first.

Better home hair cuts than Turpin too. Levi is an upgrade all round
How can anyone bag Jake's hair?

totally fedup with Herbie at centre. Hopefully next year we have a centre pairing of Staggs and Cobbo with Herbie and Oates on the wings. Or even a pairing of Staggs and Brenko with Cobbo and Oates/Herbie as wing

A “stunning coup”? Really?

How is re-signing a guy already on your books a “stunning coup”?

The media couldn't make a drama out of it, so it's a stunning coup.
