I am a massive Dearden fan, I want him to stay with us for a very long time.

Having said that, if he wants to lead us along and 'wait and see' and hold out for a better offer and 'test the waters' then pull it and tell him he can leave. Put a contract in front of him, tell him he's the long term future 7 of the club if he wants it and if not have fun on a short leash at the Roosters where he'll be dumped in one season if he's not instantly a superstar.

Enough of 'accommodating' and 'understanding' by the club. The kid is 19 and hasn't proven anything in first grade yet, to give him all the power is ludicrous and of course young dumb kids with greedy managers will be swayed by big money and greener pastures. Time for hardball, give him an ultimatum and be done with it. Nobody is above the club, I'd rather lose him now and be able to prepare than have him inevitably walk out at the 11th hour when someone throws massive overs at him.

The 'oh but the money was ridiculous I understand why he left, nothing Broncos could have done' argument with Fifita is rubbish. We allowed that to happen by not sticking to our guns and locking him down sooner, and the exact same thing will happen here.

an inexperienced teenager with almost 0 runs on the board yet to achieve anything at this level gets offered a job playing rugby league professionally for a crazy amount of money for the average person, guaranteed to be the starting number 7 for the biggest and most well-funded club in the NRL with a long history of success (excluding last year), who brought him through the junior ranks and handed him his debut and are willing to commit to him long term...

If that's not enough to get him to sign on the dotted line and he still needs to 'see how things go' then he's a mercenary and he can go elsewhere as far as I'm concerned.

they have based this speculation on the fact that Cam Smith went to a Titans u19 trial match on the weekend. a trial match, that happened to have Matt Geyers son (Cam's god son) playing in

I have no doubt they are stupid enough to throw plenty of extra cash at him, they do have form in this department but I don't whether that actually have the cash available, you cant just keep paying extra to get guys to come, it will catch up with them eventually.

They also seemed to have based this article on the fact that the Titans have been interested for a while and apparently Smith wants to live on the coast (which i'm sure rules us out ... because no-one in their right mind lives on the gold coast and works in Brisbane, lol

one thing i do find funny is there are no quotes from Holbrook, Mal, the raging fool, Smith or his manager ... they did however quote Nathan Friend, who has nothing to do with it ...

I was thinking JWall. He's not on Either Smith money though. Taylor is, but his contract is almost up and they'll want to sign him on less than half his current contract.

You might be on to something with the 2 for 1, Peachy & Wallace for XSmith, the two former players happy to forego their $600k/yr contracts for the peaceful farming life.
