I think based on recent years performances 400k is just about right, then if he performs well in 2021 and backs it up in 2022 then we reward him. I don't think he has done enough to deserve a big contract yet. Maybe a player option in our favour for once that rewards good performance is what's needed.

Sure I'm not arguing he should get a big contract now, I'm saying if he's only playing well enough to deserve 400k he shouldn't be getting it here. The only way I'd be keeping him here is if he's playing well enough to earn a decent 6 figure contract, and agreed a club option would be absolutely ideal. Given Donaghy seems to be White's polar opposite maybe we'll start to see that being put in instead of multi-year player option.
