Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

Can't Lodge just slim down if he's too big for the modern game? He's a chunky lad who carries a bit of fat on him.

Hey ahh, crazy idea. Why don't we get ahead of the curve and offer St. George a trade: Milford for Dufty, we pay half of Milford's remaining contract for 2021 and take on all of Dufty's. The idea is to get it into Griffin's head that he can turf Dufty out and put Norman at fullback to "reunite the crew" as it were.

1. Norman
6. Milford
7. Hunt
9. McC

Dufty to Broncos to play fullback. Everyone wins?

Supposedly out of the kindness of their hearts Warrington have said they don't want one....

The titans just keep on bumping into these nice people since they have millionaire owners. Bryce Cartwright and Shannon Boyd also said they didn't want a dime off of them, such nice blokes...

It's not that unusual for English clubs to release players if they don't kick up a stink and have been a good servant.

Saying that, the Titans are becoming as dodgy as the rorters.

Cant see why Niu cant be our own Dufty.....similar physical profile and I reckon he is almost as fast too...

I think we may be jumping the gun with Lodge here... in my eyes we still haven't seen a healthy Lodge play under the new rules outside of the first 20mins in round 1, and in that round 1 game he had 6 runs for 51m and 9 tackles... which is not bad for 20mins of work.

The forwards most impacted under the new rules are the explosive, high impact forwards that can only last in 20min spells (ie. Shannon Boyd... luckily for GC he doesnt like money and chose to be a farmer before the new rules even kicked into gear).

Lodge is a workhorse prop who was averaging 55-60mins per game last time he was fit... and it's the workhorse props that are becoming more important under the new rules (Paulo, AFB, JFH, Papa, TKO, etc.). The mobile prop is becoming more in vogue, Lui and RCG, but it doesnt mean a guy that can churn through work across 55 minutes is suddenly redundant because he happens to be 115kg.

I would actually suggest that TPJ is more likely needing to drop some kg's to remain viable in the current game. I think during the preseason it was indicated that he had dropped some weight, but he's currently doing 3 stints on the field to get to 50mins. If the morons at NSWRL HQ keep going the way they are then dropping the interchange to 6 becomes the next step and suddenly TPJ doesn't have a job

theres talk of adding a 18th man for players ruled out due to foul play....actually think the opposite may happen...WTS

Turns out we are the worst victims for allowing player options. Received wisdom is players only exercise these options if they're under-performing. No club wants them, so the more you have the worse you are at negotiating:

That RCG contract though 😳😳😳

Just watch that Jordan McLean PO disappear as he joins Shannon Boyd down on the farm

We should also go in for Tino as of Nov 1 ... push that salary up and make the tits pay out the nose for their forward pack... and by tits I mean NSWRL via brown paper bags

Thanks Old Gill, the gift that just keeps on giving.

So Lodge is now on $800,000? It's Jack Bird's numbers all over again.
Speaking of Bird, he lasted two games before getting rubbed out by the judiciary. One week if he doesn't appeal. Two if he does.

Oh man, that Lodge deal is
team america vomit GIF

Thank god Turpin is low. Staggs will wash out with the new deal.

Whos was in charge of rubber stamping Flegler, Lodge and Oates etc? Seems there was no foresight to anything! Oates will sit around next year for 500k and be an expensive backup.

How can you predict Oates drop off? All very well saying no foresight when at the time he was re-signed he was elite

I don't know the source of those figure .... but it is the first time since Lodge signed his contract that a figure of 800k has ever been mentioned ... makes for a better story i suppose

Some of these deals are so bad, Boyd/Bird/Lodge, that it's almost impossible anyone signing off on them without knowing they were fucking over the Broncos.

It's too inept to be believable.
