It's not about spending millions it's about getting value.

I'd give 800k to Tino happily and dump Flegler, TPJ, Glenn and Lodge.

There's nothing wrong with a few big money signings, our problem is all our big money signings barely offer minimum wage NRL output.

You could pair Haas and Tino with a Kennedy/Carrigan budget pairing and you've got elite go forward.

Sounds good in theory but I think he'd just be another young forward superstar getting lost in our team. I'm all for bumping up his salary for the titans though lol... We need old hard heads.

I'm on the finucane train now with some spine players. It really depends on our cash. ANY of our current lot want to play games and don't take the next offer we give them let them walk, the more we have the better quality we can buy. Manu would be the dream for me and exactly what we need at the back.
I'd be excited about some cheaper options to patch up the squad too like Nico hynes, Kurt Mann or Capewell or opacic or walters at the right price, some partially paid contracts of McGuire. I'd be looking at England too for some options. There's undoubtably some options I don't know about but I'd like Morgan Knowles or Daryl Clark at the right price, even mcgillvaray despite his age for one year on the cheap. There would be some young guys too I'm sure. The storm have shown us that no matter how talented these young guys need time in the QLD cup too playing against men week after week (big reason I'm glad we didn't match the Walsh offer), I know this plan has got stuffed with corona but these young guys need to earn their place and develop.
Defence, the spine, effort and experience should be the 4 objective of our recruiting. The spine, needs fixing with 2 players to complement dearden and give turpin a spell with a good fullback if we are even mildly unsure farnworth or cobbo wouldn't be ready (which we would be). Defence and experience needs to be in the middle and on the edge, people keep saying we have so much in the forwards already but they are the ones letting us down and showing no effort. They don't need scrapped, we just need 1 or 2 of the right signings to pull them together, the backs just need some solid contributors.
Sounds like a lot but it's not really. 5 players would do it. We will have the cash, especially if a couple leav, which for the 1st time ever I would not give 2 shits if they did lol look where these flops have gotten us, the days of them using us to bump up their price should be over

So yeah, McGuire has been officially offered a release from the final year of his contract, even this year potentially. Dragons are the likely destination, we should get in first.

I really like what Griffin is doing at St George, he's seeing where they are weak or need depth and is going for astute acquisitions. He is also working with combinations he knows exist. Basically, he is putting in a structure to make them competitive now and laying a framework to bring kids into. He is doing exactly what I thought he would and why he was my preferred coach to replace Seibold. He may not be a coach to win a premiership but he is a coach to build a re-build a side / playing roster / pathways program and that is EXACTLY what we needed.

Jeez you're making lists of other teams now... also that team may be leading into finals, but I don't think dragons will be playing in them, despite how shit the comp is at the moment

If you look at most elite/upper tier fullbacks (tedesco, papenhuyzen, RTS, gutherson) they have good footy brains/can read the game, rarely stop moving, are fit and are great support players.

Isaako is athletic and has some talent but is not a smart footy player. In attack, he parks himself behind the backline waiting for a sweep play and rarely supports the forwards or other team mates. He does not appear to be developing his game either.

We really need to the market for a capable fullback and either a half/hooker that can provide direction or control a game.

I'm not sure you watch the games, because he isn't even a similar type of player to Jai so that's a really poor comparison. And as big of a fan as I am of Moose, his form is terrible this year so far. If you aren't happy with Pat God knowns why you want him back.

Similar body shape/size, similar running style, can't compare the offload because Carrigan just doesn't do them ever, play in the same position.....I mean comeon it isn't rocket science. That's why I said Aldi brand, comparable in almost every way except one of the two sucks.
