Staggs and DCE at 6 and 7, that's pretty exciting.

I just can't see Staggs as a 6 at all.

Can you imagine the screaming that would come out of the deadshits down south about our cap if we landed DCE even on a subsidized deal? We would never hear the end of it, despite the Sombreros deserving that heat so much more and Milford's money freeing up at the end of the season.

The sneaky little fucker can run & attack better than most. He can pass & kick & Most importantly, (imo) he's a genuine footballer... he loves to win & fucking hates losing!

Sure, he's not the smartest player in defense (yet), no argument there. Put him in the 6 under Kevs wing for awhile though....
I believe Staggs can be the 6 we all hoped milf would be!

Personally, I believe it's the best way to go forward, both for the club & for Staggs..&..my mental health!

Isaako is not a fullback, apart from the occasional flash run he just doesn't have the skillset to do the job. So for fullback I'd be looking at Nicko Hynes from the Storm as he looks like a much better prospect.
And I'm on the Adam Reynolds train, just sick of our team having no organisation and kicking game and looking like a shambles.
A really tough nut forward leader that can lead this forward pack around is also a must. Alex Glenn is a terrible leader and is a huge part of our problem , he really must go.
So those 3 changes won't fix everything but I think would be a good start,

You've basically nailed it be in summary, we need:

A fullback
An organising hslf
A hooker
A forward leader
A centre
A second-rower
Depth

So basically almost everything but that said, I reckon we already have the 1 (Herbie) and the 6 (Staggs/Dearden).

Finucane is available and would be a great forward leader. From a successful team, experienced, consistent and hard worker. Will hold the young ones accountable.

I think he could be a realistic pick up too.

Seems to be a bit of an injury magnet with his calves which in my (very limited) understanding is something that gets worse with age.

Do rate him as a player and a leader though.

I wouldnt be surprised if we end up with Moose back this year. Def on the outer with Payton and I get the feeling he wont be waitng to sort things out for next year.

Dunno if true or not, but I have a family member who works down at NRL HQ in Sydney in the social media area. They get fed a bit of goss at times and he has been told 100% Coates is gone/is signing with Melbourne. Take it as you will, but I for one will be devo if we lose this bloke. He is one of our very few shining lights and it will be be horrible seeing him rip it up in a fucking Storm jersey next year. Can't say I blame him at all though. He will be deadly on the wing with Munster and co feeding him quality ball all the time.

So sign for the Storm for 12 months until Brisbane 2 rips that squad apart and Melbourne’s feeder clubs change allegiances. The 2nd and 3rd years of such a contract would be probably worse than he’s experienced - no crowds and no Munster (who will be the poster boy for Bris 2).

Id hope Xav will stay; all things considered!

He isn't the most important piece or the only piece by any means but he is a start, he is one of the things we need.

3-400k. I'd love to have his experience and aggression back but he is getting on and the Cows want him gone, so make them pay for it just like other clubs have with our blokes.

The forwards are already taking up too much of the salary cap, Piakura is getting a good upgraded deal (without playing any first grade), I dunno how McGuire can fit in without letting go of a middle forward or two.

1. Farnworth/Cobbo (if he comes on WAY faster than expected)

3. Opacic/Farnworth (if Cobbo smashes it in reserve grade this year and if he even gets the chance)

7. Cherry-Evans (I'd put it to Manly and say we are happy to take on most of his contract)

9. Turpin (keeping the seat warm for Grant)

Just a few ins and a bit of creativity and we have a genuinely competitive side. Man I don't want to lose Coates even though I fear he is already gone. But if we get some of these pieces to happen, who knows, maybe he might be convinced to stay.
