Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

I don't think there's any doubt he's lost the dressing room. Instead of burning the boats he's burnt the paddocks! How he's seemingly managed it in such a short amount of time is staggering.

Where are we getting all of this noise out of the Cows from? A physical altercation between Moose and coach? JT13 wants out? I would have thought the NRL media would be all over stuff like this.

Plenty of stuff happens without the media finding out, or they find out months down the track.

Apparently Lolo has his manager looking for a new home.
We could well do with him.
I’d offer Oates, Milford or Lodge as a swap

I can't see how that is feasible, he has six years left on his deal, who else is taking that on and if the Cows pay even a small fraction for the next six years then it would be business suicide.

If you sign a 10 year deal you're pretty much locked in, no way you're getting out of it. Maybe from year 8 or 9 and your form might be so far down they would release you but not year four.

I agree, unless there was something in his contract RE the coach, who knows.
I still think that whilst we do not need another forward, we could well do with his experience and he would be unreal for our young blokes. We have the cattle in which we could offer a swap deal + $ ie Lodge or Oates.
Rugby league is a game like no other, so who knows.
Still I think the most important recruit would be Reynolds. I’d be putting him as our no.1 priority, in front on Dearden, Staggs or Coates.

Is there no room in the current financial climate for players to renegotiate contracts? As long as its still around market value you would think the NRL would be flexible enough to allow it to happen. Seems a bit counterproductive if they wouldnt allow it. As long as you dont get a player halving the value of their contracts i think it would be acceptable.

Who’s to say he couldn’t enter into a Broncos special? Another club might take him for three years and if there’s no takers after that, he goes back to the Cows?

There is a difference between signing on a player just to add him to the cattle and trading out an existing player for a replacement. I would gladly trade Flegler and Lodge just for Taumalolo. There aren't many coaches that would look at a 2 for 1 deal as a bad thing.

There is only one problem with this, what if they do not want to go. They have contracts, you cannot force them out.

What's all this? I've been offline so maybe missed something, did moose take a swing at Toddy?

I don't know the details myself, @Sproj mentioned it in another thread and I was like "wait wut?"

Well give it a few days, I’m sure it’ll be in a Badel or Rothfield gossip column as soon as they read it here.

I'm not sure you watch the games, because he isn't even a similar type of player to Jai so that's a really poor comparison. And as big of a fan as I am of Moose, his form is terrible this year so far. If you aren't happy with Pat God knowns why you want him back.
To be fair he said Aldi

Why would JT13 give up his 6.5 million for a lesser deal?

Thats not my point really, i think a player would be mad to. I'm more saying if both parties were open to a renegotiation and it wasnt a stupidly low contract, i believe it should be allowed.

To be fair that is really quite an achievement.

I think you need to go to specsavers. They aren't even close to be similar. Jai is faster than Pat, more suited to lock and a better ball player. Jai is a natural lock, Pat isn't. He is a prop. Maybe if you watched them both develop as younger players you would clearly see the difference because your assesment is miles off. But that's your view and I respect that, it isn't mine and I'm positive you will be left with egg on your face.

Thing is, for whatever the reason he is becoming the current scapegoat. Others are making the same errors and worse, but poor old Patty seems to be the target. He isn't at the level he was last year, but if we bin off every young player the second their form fluctuates we will never have any good young players coming through. Keep saying it, and I'm 100% right on it, we are messing up the development of these young blokes.

Oh. And I like a lot of Aldi products because they are better value than the big names ones and are better!
As somebody who watched both coming through, I don't think the comparison is that absurd. They were both work-a-holic middle forwards known for their second phase play who excelled at an early age. Arrow was a better defender and he could put on shots more readily. However I don't recall him ever enjoying the purple patch of form Carrigan displayed in the back-end of 2017.

The comparison is actually something I've been thinking about lately. I remember a lot of the same posters on here were keen to write Arrow off at a young age for a lot of the same reasons as Carrigan. He wasn't a flashy tackle-breaking forward so fans saw nothing in him until the Broncos started struggling and now they want him back in the team.

As I pointed out the other week, his form dropped off in the back end of 2020. However it's nowhere near as bad as some would have you believe on here and a lot of is just to spite you. Since you joke around and talk him up as the second coming, fans on here grossly over-exaggerate their criticisms to have a pop at you for whatever reason.

That's not to dismiss every single criticism. There's some finer points of his game that he needs to fix up but you'd expect that of a 23 year old forward. Right now he's the least of the Broncos problems.
