Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

At this stage I’m willing to take the gamble. A 5/8 that would back up and actually threaten, I’m all for it.
Hopefully it means the 5th tackle midfield roost is gone.
I think half the problem is that even if who ever is playing 7 actually wants the ball on the 5th it is being defaulted to milford if he wants it or not.

Unless he has a creative playmaking side we haven't seen yet, it doesn't feel like a good replacement for Milford in a team where the hooker, halfback and fullback struggle for creativity and organisational skills too.
That’s my main concern too. Our other spine players are just far too inexperienced in Dearden’s case or frankly a little outclassed in Turpin’s case and heavily outclassed in Isaako’s case.

If we fail to also improve at least one of our Fullback or Dummy Half options then we’re likely done for even if Staggs handles himself ok at 5/8.

I'm happy to trial Staggs at 6. I think the only times he's played there was Tongas win over Aus and round 2 last year... Where he scored a Hattrick.

Adios Milford, i will be happy to never see you in a Broncos jersey ever again.

Apologies if I’ve missed it as I’ve been away for a couple of days. Did anyone else on here read that we’ve agreed to swap Reece Walsh for Paul Turner effective for the remainder of this season?

Couple of well credentialed Warriors guys have indicated Turner said goodbye to his team mates today and that an announcement is coming tomorrow morning?
That can’t be true, that is a fantastic move so there is no way we would make it. You sure you didn’t here wrong and it is Kyle Turner out of retirement? I could believe that.

Paul Turner would be a great get. Can play 6, but I think his preferred position is 1.

looks like @Sproj might be the only one happy about Staggs getting first crack at the 6 jersey

How much worse can Staggs be? Defence improves, running game improves, Dearden has to do the playmaking role, he can sink or swim.

What? The halfback will have to be the main playmaker?!! That’s crazy talk!

I don't like the move for the same reasons I didn't like the Bird move. What has Staggs done to deserve a three year guarantee in a position he's barely played at a professional level? Especially coming off a knee reconstruction?

Paul Turner is just another running half who can play some good ad-lib footy but he's extremely raw. I think Brisbane should have looked elsewhere and given Walsh the flick when they found an adequate replacement, Turner is not it.

I'm happy yep but I also don't like players being promised positions either. That said, if he has been offered first crack, I'm more than ok with that. Also, I want to know how much he is on. If as reported, it is 600k a year, yep I am over the moon with this.

It is all part of the rebuild and it isn't going to happen overnight. He is an out and out gun and if he can run as he does and develop a kicking game and passing game, this could be brilliant.

Now they need to get the halfback right with Milf's money, problem is there isn't much available unless we get creative. I think a Staggs-SJ/DCE combo I'd be going hard at.

Is it a three year guarantee? If it is a shot at first crack, what's the harm? If he fails, we still have a gun centre. The key to me is the amount.

The harm is you have a one dimensional centre on twice the amount he should be on because he's being paid like a five eighth.

Again, the key is the amount. If it is 600k, its a win for sure because like it or not, we have to pay slight overs these days even to keep our own. 600k is a good amount. 700k+, nope that's bad.
