@broncsgoat you do realise that Manly, the Cowboys and the Bulldogs are all going to have POTY this season, correct

hell, we had two last year
To compare any of those teams to the 2018 broncos would be ludicrous though.

If staggs were to go to 6, we would need a ball playing 1 and would help for them to have a general play kicking game.
I don’t agree with it but is Kevin thinking of Milford at 1 again?

I just checked the warriors forum and they not only think Turner is a good player and their gutted but they also are adamant that Adam Reynolds is gonna sign there 😂😂... even we are wishful thinkers but it is a 1000 times more likely he will sign with us than them
Where can I find this warriors forum?

Bruh, I gotta stop backing players. Milfs disappeared and Ben Simmons is doing the same in philly sheeit
It's bullshit isn't it! Huge drop off in form from simmons

Kev does know a thing or two about playing 5/8...

He may not be able to get Milford to do those things. Other coaches have failed in that department as well.

That is different to suggesting he doesn’t know what the role requires however and what sort of player might make a good fist of it.

Clearly we need change. Whether Staggs to 5/8 or not is a good idea, remains to be seen. Hopefully he might be able to slide into that position this year even if just in rotation, to get a look at him...

I’m not doubting Kev’s ability to spot a decent half. Though in 4 games he has gone with:

Round 1: Milford right / Croft left
Round 2 ( mid game swap): Milford left / Croft right
Round 3: Milford left / Croft right / Dearden bench
Round 4: Milford left / Dearden right / Croft bench

4 rounds 4 different half combinations.

I’m not sure how highly I rate Kev’s ability to clearly identify what he wants from his halves. Though that point aside, I have no doubt that Staggs can be a damaging 6 and that he could compliment the right spine. I don’t think Isaako Dearden and Turpin are the right spine - that is a massively inexperienced spine and would huge amounts of pressure on Dearden to do everything. The spine would work if you brought in a Josh Hodgeson type Hooke who acts as a game manager, or an experienced ball playing fullback to assist Dearden. Staggs would be a great half partner for Reynolds but his back injury takes him off the table as an option imo.

At very least (and a move like this may well be the case), bringing in a guy that is experienced in their position such as Hynes and a decent bench hooker to help Turpin would be necessary for Staggs to work.
1. Hynes
6. Staggs
7. Dearden
9. Turpin
14. Connor Watson / Kurt Mann (I guess Billy Walters would be better than nothing).

The team currently has no leadership or decent experienced toilers. Pushing out Milford is a step in the right direction but replacing him with Staggs doesn’t fix the leadership issue.

I really don’t mind if we let some of the young guys walk but we need 4 or so external signings of various prices but they need to re-establish a culture. Mann, Opacic, Watson, Hynes, Capewell, Either or both Morris, McGuire, etc

What’s the bet we are sending Walsh early for nothing in return?

so what happens with Milf once Staggs comes back? Is that when Staggs will be expecting a go at 5/8th? If so, does Milf go to the bench?

I cant imagine him having the mental fortitude to really knuckle down and produce now that this news has broken...

I hope we can work out an early release for Milford and save a few hundred thousand.

If milf isn’t in the 2022 plans then scrap him now.
Roll with a Dearden/Croft halves partnership unless this Turner fella is upto it until Staggs returns.

Anybody know much about young halfback Paul Turner ?
For everyone that is talking smack about Paul Turner, here it is. The kid is a beast I can’t stress this enough he won Jersey Flegg player of the year for the warriors. He can play 6/7/1 and also 2/3/4/5. He’s greatest attributes is his running game and support. He has a great knack of being around the ball at the right moment. I see him better than Isaako because he is quite an aggressive player who loves to find work. Which is exactly what we could need at fullback. Not to mention he had an amazing debut for the warriors last season and every time he plays he gets through a lot of work and doesn’t let anyone down. If we get him in place of Reece Walsh that was already on his way out anyway, Kevin Walters had done a great job.

I’m new to this forum have been reading for a couple years. Decided join just now. Thanks for having me ✌🏼

Welcome, mate. Quality first post. Sorry you’ve been reading all our carry on for a couple of years, I would’ve tried harder if I knew people were watching us.

If it looks like we are not resigning milford or taking a punt on reynolds, and will likely have greater reliance on dearden to take ownership of the team next year (if staggs at 6 rumour is true), would people reconsider visiting getting widdop in now to partner dearden in the halves and show him the ropes? Maybe a second year option in the clubs favour if it gets it over the line.

Milf could maybe move into a super sub 14 for the remainder of the year or if he wants out he can leave

Just an outside the box option.

Turner was the Kiwi 6 against the Australian schoolboys in 2019- Walsh, Walker Sexton and Howarth. Played 6 for Dolphins round one.

Two line break assists and two try assists- 4 tackle breaks.

Nice pass for Berry's try on the right.

Is the Turner swap confirmed? Seems like a great result in a bad situation.
