Broncos Roster, Signings and Rumours Discussion 2021

I'm hoping they are signing on a no dickhead policy with a good attitude towards training. Bit of experience too.
I never thought I'd say this but I'd be happy with David mead, copley, asiata, and chambers. Yes, chambers is a dickhead, but after hearing that he drove the storm culture a lot when he was there I have certainly come around to signing him. Any of Allan, Capewell, gagai would be great too obviously but I'm hoping everyone they sign is for 1 year so we have a MASSIVE warchest for 2022.
Defence should be the key this year. That's attitude and communication included...
I think we're in for a world of hurt if we don't urgently recruit at Fullback and in our Centres, so it's a big tick to Chambers and Allan for me.

If the Broncos aren't working in the background to get Allan back from Souths then they've got rocks in their heads. He's not elite, but he's got significant upside potential on our alternative options.

So if these signing rumours are true and who knows if they are, our club is a shambles, looks like:

1. Farnworth
2. Mead
3. Chambers
4. Copley (Staggs out half of the season)
5. Coates
6. Milford
7. Dearden
8. Carrigan
9. Turpin
10. Haas
11. Glenn
12. TPJ
13. Asiata

14. Paix/Macca
15. Flegler
16. Lodge
17. Oates/Riki/Bullemor

We really need Allan but the rest is potentially looking better, even though aside from Flegs, no signings have actually happened yet. This at least looks a top 12 side.

Allan is exactly what we need right now. Milford needs him and he’s a Queenslander so bring him home.

Would be happy with Mead assuming the price is right. We need to be surrounding these talented kids with experienced campaigners so good move.

david mead would be a terrible acquisition. he's 32 and he didn't exactly light it up when he was here last time. i know there's benefit in experience but i really don't see how this would benefit us in any way. is carty all over this one?

If it’s minimum wage, it’s a good signing. We need depth and we need experience, he provides both.

I couldn't disagree more. IMO this kind of thinking is exactly what got us into the debacle of the last few years. Kids need experience around them not just on the field. Showing them the good habits and the right attitude is often more important than what that player can deliver on the field.

No Bird and no Staggs means we're in deep trouble for both Fullback and Centre. Darius Boyd hardly set the world on fire last year but even he was a solid step up from our alternative Fullback options. If we don't resolve these two areas I think we could be in for a very long year indeed.

I agree last thing this side needs is indecisiveness anywhere in the team but especially the backline. Need experience and reliability, having rookies trying to hold onto their spot in a crucial season like this just won’t work

Then sign a journeyman from Q Cup that's had to bust his arse to make min contract - that'll teach good habits. Not signing a 32yo for the sake of his age.

Article in the CM apparently quoting Dearden about how he wants to get broncos winning again and that he is planning to commit long term
Exactly what we need and hope this is followed up with a long term contract soon. The attitudes of Dearden and Flegler need to be held up as the Broncos standard moving forward. Guys that want to stay and make the club great and repay the organisation and the fans. They need to contrast this with the attitudes with guys like Fifita as to what is not a Bronco. No one owed the Broncos more than him and he shit all over them, IMHO he needs to be a marked man every time we play him with the aim to be to make him cry.

Let's not hold Dearden up as a beacon until officially re-signed. After that, go for your life!

Well when I heard you were planning on signing Mead I definitely didn't expect to see just @Renegade against it. You got rid of him a year early last time and he's played 31 games in 3 years in the Super League since. I was going to compare it to signing Maranta for experience but bit harsh, Vidot is probably closer. Hope he proves me wrong, loved him at the Titans, but he's not even close to what he once was.

I'll add Oates has a similar number of NRL games. If you need experience in the back 5 he should be providing it.

Who was the centre that played for the Titans this season? Is he another Kelly?
