tend to agree with wolfie, you can get away with average outside backs but you really need a quality hooker to string it together, turpins a good defender but frankly that's it, his passes aren't great and doesn't offer much spark, i hope if we persist with him he proves me wrong but cant see broncos having any long term success with him just another Macca
Exactly just another macca, which we can deal with for another year until we can afford someone like Brandon Smith. Remember we will next year have Turpin and Oates both off contract. They are decent players however right now we have the opportunity to get a back line that can actually win a comp. We got the forward pack, we got the backline and then we arguably have the 2 or 3/4 (assuming we get Hynes) of the spine players to get us a premiership if we get the best out of Staggs. Like I know it might sound crazy but with Reynolds coming if we can snag Hynes, Vunivalu, **Brenko is already coming** and maybe even Capewell, I wouldn't think twice about us being a top 8 side pushing for top 4 especially considering chances are rabbitohs will be considerably worse next year since reynolds is leaving. And if Staggs is a good 6 without a doubt our side is making the top 4. Yet again may be a biased opinion but it is a very neat, more experienced and capable side of winning and pushing good teams and knocking over bad teams

Grant is the dream but aside from him some options I see are:

- Hodgson if Raiders release him a year early.
- Api available from 2023 (unlikely they’ll let him go early but if so I’d take him over Hodgson )
- Reed Mahoney for 2023
- if no one comes available I’d go after Granville as a cheap bench option over Levi for next year.
I think that last one is a good shout, actually brings something off the bench with ruck speed, he knows how to win a comp and he's got experience at the broncos, in different systems and most importantly in the nil

I'd rather spend the money on a hooker.
Wouldnt we all.

True! Some great points

These are the players off contract at the end of this season 2021:
Jesse Arthars, John Asiata, Dale Copley, Alex Glenn, Danny Levi, David Mead, Anthony Milford, Tesi Niu, Keenan Palasia, Isaiah Tass, Ben Te'o

I'd let them all go.

So we have St George Broncos and Brisbane Storm coming along nicely.

You forgot Kennedy and Arthars.

Depends on the market at the time really. We all know contracts dont mean a great deal these days and If we can get a hooker in for 2022 i'd be doing it over Vunivalu, who i think is just a bit of a grub on the field and it didnt take him long to get stood down at the reds. Just a gut feeling with him that he may be more trouble than he is worth. I'd personally like Reece Robson from the Cowboys over just about any other hooker in the game right now apart from Grant and maybe Mahoney, who has come on leaps and bounds this year.

I am not sure if sua or capewell are likely to come, and unlikely we could get another hooker option, however with two more cost-effective pick ups (hynes and granville for a running hooker) i think we could be a really competitive team if we can get our heads right.

1. Isaako (if isaako's defensive organisation or positioning is not going to plan i dont see why we could not place hynes at the back in defence and isaako defending at 6.)
2. Oates
3. Staggs
4. Lee
5. Farnworth
6. Hynes
7. Reynolds
8. Lodge
9. Turpin
10. Hass
11. Riki
12. TPJ
13. Carrigan
14. Gamble/Hetherington/Granville
15. Bullemore
16. Kennedy
17. Flegler

18. Piakura
19. Croft
20. Arthars/Nui/Tass
21. Another middle

I have suggested Granville as he available and is still able up the tempo when he comes on and getting our forwards on the front foot could really march us up the field.

I am sure i will be missing someone but to me that looks decent.

I’m not really disagreeing with you I see where your coming from but if I’m putting money on our signings it’s gonna be Hynes, Vunivalu and Capewell that’s it... also rate that Robson opinion

I have a suspicion B.Smith might come too but for who is the question.

do you work for the Courier Mail? ... because that's the level of inflation they like to apply

reports are Vunivalu is on 700k in union. so obviously if he want to come back to league, he'll need to take a significant pay cut
Quick google search says he is on 900k. Even if he is on 700k, Broncos shouldn't pay more than half that.

Why? Wouldn't Reynolds and Hynes work with Isaako adding his little 50% of our points? Why are people suggesting our only attacking player moves to wing ffs? Weird.
Well not to get into another argument, because that has already played out, but most people who care about the topic, seem to think Isaako is a very ordinary fullback and would happily see him replaced…

The only guy that would remotely be an option would be Granville given history.

Hodgson? Sadly peaked
API? He’ll be staying at Penrith for a while
Reed? Hates us

That's because most are led by the nose and don't think for themselves. It's okay though, people are entitled to believe what they wish. I will cite one example of a preconception. Last year you could barely find a poster on here who thought Kennedy was a decent nrl forward. I was one of very very few who watched carefully and formed an opinion on what I saw. I don't listen to football broadcasts, I find the commentary irritating and distracting. I just watch in silence.

Kennedy has not changed one iota or perhaps he's a tad fitter, I don't know. Last year nobody put him down on the team lists they like creating. When I suggested him I was told he was garbage. Now, he features on every proposed list. He hasn't changed, he's still tackling the same, still making the same metres. What's changed? I tell you what's changed. The commentary around his efforts. You ask how I know if I watch in silence?
I watch the replays with the sound on. I've heard complimentary things said and lo and behold, next day or straight after they're said those same comments become many posters own thoughts!

The Anasta Isaako diatribe the other night was a classic example. Any fair minded person watching the game would see Isaako did little wrong. Anasta crucified him, hammering the same line and of course, that became 'the truth'. It wouldn't have mattered who the fullback was, the times when four grubbers are perfectly weighted, the times when those same four grubbers bounce their final bounce perfectly and lob into the arms of an attacker can be counted as 'once in a lifetime'. It doesn't happen but it did on that night.

You can believe it was some masterful plan or that Isaako should have been perfectly positioned but the truth is it was simply a freakishly fortunate sequence that bounced the perfect way. Anyway, you guys keep thinking Isaako is terrible, I choose to believe otherwise. I've blocked Bookhaki and won't be engaging anymore on this subject which will no doubt please many.

We are apparently in discussions with said fullback now. Also, said fullback is best mates with the best hooker in the game, one can dream.
Yes they both love surfboard riding which belly ache frowns upon. C’mon kevvie make it happen or at least get Billy on the case.

I’m fine to keep the depth players Jesse, Dale, tesi, Keenan and Tass I’m fine with... even wouldn’t be against Te’o if he was just a squad member
