You'd seriously want to deal with Clive Palmer? They're basically a package deal now. Imagine he does post more controversial stuff on social media and the club needs to sack him. It would be a dragged out lawsuit with Clive Palmer posting TV ads during NRL games.
I personally think if we could get him on a 12 month contract to help get us sorted out it would be a good move. While in now way do i agree with what he said, the punishment doesnt fit the crime. We have had homophobic slurs and racist slurs from other players yet they havent got the kind of attention or punishment Izzy has for his. I think he deserves an opportunity to show he can tow the line.
Don’t entirely disagree but hasn’t he already been given that opportunity? Wasn’t the homophobic post the second one of that nature?
Yeah, probably right about Clive but i doubt we will see him around Izzy for that much longer
On Palmer, Kevvie would be familiar with Clive after his brother Kerrod ran for the Senate on his ticket. Clive will have burnt Kerrod. He burns everyone.

As for Izzy, he never made "hateful" or "homophobic" comments. He listed a whole bunch of sins, of which homosexuality was only one (drunks, atheists, fornicators, etc), and warned that if you commit sins you go to Hell. This is 101 of Christianity and Islam is even stricter. The poor bastard was completely railroaded by the powerful gay lobby group over this.

The correct response to what Izzy posted would be "I don't even believe in Hell," and then move the **** on. Do we castigate Muslims for being judgemental? No, we let them have their thing, and we have our own. In fact, if you dare criticize Islam publically, it won't end well for you.

Izzy has a right to freedom of religious belief, and a right to proselytize. He's not hurting anyone. In his eyes, he's trying to save people. There's nothing "hateful" about anything he's done.

I dunno how Folau would go, but age these days doesn't always mean anything. Brett Morris was killing it before his injury, Justin Hodges was still excellent in his last year. I think Folau would have picked up more skill playing fullback in Union, he could have more footy smarts than some of the current geniuses in the backs.

His defense and fitness would be suspect. He was the best Rugby player in the world for a few years before the shitshow started, but Rugby is a holiday compared to the NRL. It's easy for decent backs to kill it in Rugby, but none return in the shape they left.

That said, he'd still be better than anyone we have on our books. But I can't see us signing him, because - ironically - of all the hatred he, and therefore us, would receive. We'd be boycotted by sponsors, etc. Can't see it happening.

I honestly cant remember. I do remember one where he got filmed at his church basically saying the same thing. If we sign him then its going to piss a lot of people off because its the Broncos, and that suits me just fine!
Checked out his wiki page, he’s had a few strikes.

At any rate he has never done any homophobic slurs, he has simply stated religious beliefs. That's his choice and his to die by, certainly the same can be said for those he is speaking out against. Not to start up another argument 🤣

Sorry dude there's heaps of hateful stuff in what he's done as a person with millions of 'followers'.

Young LGBTQI+ kids feeling even worse about themselves because this fuckwit said they are bad. No thanks.

I would prefer it if footballers just didn't have access to social media while playing. Young people do stupid stuff for many reasons and, like Will Smith said, he was just dumb in private. Seriously cashed up kids and young people can do seriously dumb things and publish it nowadays and the media laps it up and spreads it further. You just have to limit that damage as a club manager.

Izzy breaching that on his own personal religious crusade needed to be addressed and like I said in another thread, everyone should consider their own priorities and realise that there are trade-offs and repercussions to their actions.

Yes, it would be lovely if we were all understanding and shared the same ideas and values, but it would also be super boring and it's not the case. In Izzy's case he needs to ask himself whether his first priority is his crusade or being a professional athlete, because clearly it's not possible for him to do both.

I really dislike this "have your cake and eat it too" attitude that seems to exist in people with a decent bit of money and a social media presence.

Of all the embarrassments this club has produced Lazarus’ politics are up there.

Izzy. Railroaded. 😂😂😂😂😂

The fucking clown was told to shut his mouth and not post hateful comments publicly.

So he did that again, and in doing so, purposely offended a very large part of the fan base. He's a flog, and he absolutely and utterly deserved all that came from it.

The world would be a better place if social media did not exist at all. All you need is a messenger, everything else like Twitter and instagram and whatever just does way more harm than good.

Yeah right. He didn't get done for his beliefs, he got done for posting what is obviously controversial, then signed another contract promising to not do it again, then did it again, and went to court over it.

He then goes overseas, lies to his club as an excuse to come to Australia then signs a contract while still being contracted elsewhere. He then stirs up shit by threatening to take QRL to court for not registering his contract, even though he was wrong and negotiated a release with Catalans a short time later.

He's a lying shitbag now aligned with one of the most annoying flogs Australia has seen.

He has a right to believe and preach whatever he wants and businesses have a right to not go near him.

I agree with that bit completely. As for the rest, seems he's not the only one who keeps a shitlist of sins for which he must repent or face eternal damnation in the fires of unforgiveness.

Can't you just put him on a TPJ style media ban? If he breaks it, he's gone - put it explicitly in the contract and get it triple checked for validity by GOOD lawyers.

He would be a perfect playing solution to our 1 situation for a year or two while Cobbo develops. I also think him in Toeni would get on like a house on fire.

Didn’t he refuse to sign that type of thing for Rugby Australia?
