Reynolds says he failed to convince Su'a to follow him to Brisbane (phew), but remains optimistic about Gagai:

“He’s obviously a very good player at every level of the game, and he’d be a great asset to any team. I worked hard on Su’a following me to Brisbane but he was one that got away, but I’d love to have Dane up there. He’s a great friend of mine, a great teammate and our families get along well together.

“He’s played for them before and knows what it is all about. He’d be a bonus. He’ll never get beaten on attitude - he never takes a backward step and competes to the death.”

I still think Gagai would be a great signing. He has experience and a polished game that none of our backs have. It will obviously depend on amount and length to determine if it’s a good value buy or not but on the surface I think it brings a lot to our teams balance.

If we let Oates walk at the end of his contract it would basically cover Gagai’s contract in the second year

Glad we didn’t get Sua though.

On a side note, I’ve never seen a big signing show so much involvement in their new club before moving. Giving his jersey to the young bronco fan, discussing tactics with Kev, watching our games on iPad while on the sidelines, trying to work on recruitment. It definitely gives the impression he isn’t coming to the broncos with one eye on retirement.

I agree, but his publicized comments - combining with Milford, recruiting Su'a, etc - have been a touch questionable.

Gagai would be a good recruit, but depends on price and contract length. We haven't had a great record with centres either, both expensive and cheap. I can realistically see Lee following Kennar's trajectory in the ISC. Arthars is underrated. Farnworth is overrated. Neither appear to be long term prospects there.

At a pinch we can use Capewell as cover, but only as cover.

Gagai would be good purely for professionalism, experience and attitude. He can help create the culture we want going forward.

In the "Tommy Dearden sitting on JT's lap" trivia corner: who are these two players, and why should you care?

Geez, the line up looks pretty bad today. Why’s Arthars on the bench and Bullemor is 18th man?
Bully apparently got a niggle of some kind and Arthurs is cover for Staggs.

Im sus on this though because he was named 18th man 🤔 No idea why Kev hates him.

I spoke to Payne Hass' dad, Greg, the other day and he said that Payne had been offered $1.2m per year from Rugby Union. Titans have also made a big play (not sure how they still have anything left in the salary cap). It seems like our biggest competition is Rugby because he likes the idea of travelling the world and specifically asked if he could take his family on tours and they said yes. However, Greg said that he loves it at the Broncos and loves being close to his parents (who live on the Gold Coast, as does he). After the chat, I did get the sense that he will likely stay.

This has to be the biggest load of shit… Titans aren’t allowed to talk to him let alone materialise anything that would indicate going hard after him. As for union I don’t think they are in a position to be offering a 1.2 million a year contract years out from when it could be valid

Physically, he'd kill in in union, but it's a completely different game up front and unless he played it as a junior, it's a steep learning curve too far for him in my opinion. Rucks, mauls, line-outs and actual scrums. All that shit that makes the game boring is union's bread and butter. You can't just barge forward tucking the ball under your arm.

I can't see him going to Rugby. Nor could the Titans afford him.

You have already shown your level of intelligence by your arguments as to why this must be 'bullshit'. What evidence do you have to say that union or Titans couldn't make an offer like that? Are you really that naive to think that clubs don't contact players before they are allowed to?

I’m sure the Haas family openly discusses their contracts of their son openly with strangers.
