Ah yes, before the peptides issue. We also had James Segeyaro.

He's playing 9 because he was shithouse at 6 and there's no competition there. And that's only because we never bought any hookers. Everyone here groaned when the rumours went around we were going to sign him. I mean there were howls of derision. To that extent he's silenced his critics, but he still wouldn't get a starting gig in the 9 jersey at any other club. We need a number 9. A proper number 9.
That’s above my pay grade, but I wouldn’t have objected to them sniffing out Kodi Nikorima when he had itchy feet.Who do you propose?
Maybe we should’ve gone through with the Parcell signing? But Niko ain’t it. He’s been poor for a few seasons nowThat’s above my pay grade, but I wouldn’t have objected to them sniffing out Kodi Nikorima when he had itchy feet.
The last line isn't exactly true, Payne Haas is one of our biggest link men, he will often be the one who starts the spread. Seibolds video last week on Reynolds and staggs showed this. https://www.nrl.com/news/2022/08/03/big-games-create-big-players-kotoni-staggs/Do we still think Payne will leave? I have no idea. He's absolutely not worth the money he's asking. All he does is soak up some damage from opposing forwards for longer periods than other front rowers can manage. It's not nothing, but human brick walls aren't that expensive, and he offers next to nothing in attack.
I'm only good for a whinge. I don't have an alternative. But you could name any random hooker from any other club that no one's heard of and he would be an upgrade on what we have.Maybe we should’ve gone through with the Parcell signing? But Niko ain’t it. He’s been poor for a few seasons now
We agree to differ again on this one. I actually like Payne and don't really care about his contract wrangling other than I don't think he's worth what he's already on.The last line isn't exactly true, Payne Haas is one of our biggest link men, he will often be the one who starts the spread. I'd say this year Haas has been shut down pretty well in terms of run metres. But the work he does with his tough carries is phenomal.
I know we all have a slight bias against Haas due to his love of money, it's taken me a while and I still haven't fully got over it.
But I do believe we are now a bit unfair on Haas. He is one of the premier front rowers in the game. We should pay him accordingly to that, rather than pay him as one of the premier players in the comp.
Niko is also a reconditioned failed halfI'm only good for a whinge. I don't have an alternative. But you could name any random hooker from any other club that no one's heard of and he would be an upgrade on what we have.
Kodi, I don't know. I haven't been following his recent form closely - and I know he didn't want to play utility - but I see Wayne Bennett's snapped him up for that role. He would have to be at least a marginal upgrade on what we have.
But really, I would like a hooker we've heard of. And not some reconditioned failed half like our current three.
Yep, also Macca. We specialize in taking these players who could barely get a game in the QCup at 6 and making them train at hooker so we can carry them on the bench to cover multiple spine positions. And then they become our starting hooker. None have the x-factor you need to crack it in the halves, but they're all okay enough to kind of do the job in a pinch. None could displace Tyrone Roberts, for example. Which raises another question I'm too lazy to ask.Niko is also a reconditioned failed half

LOL Titans bought the Broncos kid who was a half they tried to turn into a hooker and failed and turned him back into a half .Yep, also Macca. You could point to Ben Hunt if you want to embarrass my rudimentary logic.
I don't think Billy is "bad" by any means, and I haven't done a forensic examination of other hookers, but I couldn't see any other team wanting to poach him.I think there is a league-wide shortage in hookers right now.
I don't think Billy is the worst, but he's not in the top half either...
I think it's also a case of not really having anyone they could have signed... Jeremy Marshall King perhaps?
I haven't watched enough Tigers games to comment on him. I'd definitely take Api.@McHunt - what about Jake Simpkin? I’m still hoping we can bring him back for next year as the Tigers have Api coming.
